Chapter 110: Shen Xinyi, Damn You!
The sleek, pure black compact body of the car, its curves at the rear reminiscent of a beautiful woman’s silhouette, the sharp headlights, and the dynamically styled bumper—all somewhat traditional yet thoroughly modern and trendy—along with the iconic four overlapping rings on the front grille, left no doubt: this was the Audi TT that Xue Tian’ai had just bought yesterday.
Yet now, on the side window of this Audi TT fluttered a white parking ticket. It had rained heavily the night before, but the skies had cleared, and the bright sun made that stark white ticket glaringly conspicuous.
“Damn! Isn’t that my car?” Just a moment ago, Xue Tian’ai had been grumbling about how foolish it was to get fined for illegal parking, and now, suddenly, he had become the very fool he’d been mocking.
With a bitter sigh, Xue Tian’ai quickly gathered himself and dashed across the street to explain the situation to the stunning female traffic officer wearing a mask, hoping to get the ticket canceled.
But as he approached the other side of the street, ready to confront the officer, he hesitated. Was it really appropriate to rush in like this? How should he speak to her? What words would persuade her to revoke his fine?
While Xue Tian’ai pondered these social nuances and strategies, the alluring officer kept her head down, swiftly writing tickets and pasting those glaring white “medals” on a row of illegally parked vehicles.
Watching her slender figure gradually fade into the distance, Xue Tian’ai finally gritted his teeth and walked toward her—not because he minded the fine, but because he refused to be proven wrong by his own words.
Soon, he caught up to her, scratched his head, struck a pose he thought was charming, and lightly tapped her shoulder.
“Hello, beautiful, good morning! How about I treat you to breakfast?” The moment the words left his mouth, regret washed over him.
But words, once spoken, are like spilled water; they cannot be retrieved. He had no choice but to follow through.
The female officer paused, turning her head with a hint of annoyance. When she saw Xue Tian’ai striking his awkward pose behind her, she was momentarily stunned, then a flicker of fiery anger ignited in her eyes—only to be swiftly quelled.
Feeling a sudden chill, Xue Tian’ai was startled and thought, “This is bad. My pickup line was too insincere, too awkward.” But when he looked into her eyes, he was instantly taken aback.
Contrary to the cold, killing glare he had imagined, her eyes were soft and warm, smiling gently at him.
“Good morning to you too, handsome,” she said with a slightly husky voice, whether naturally or deliberately low-pitched, Xue Tian’ai couldn’t tell. “Did I hear you right? You said you want to buy me breakfast?”
Relieved that she didn’t seem stern, Xue Tian’ai exhaled softly and replied hurriedly, “Of course, you heard right! You traffic officers work tirelessly every day to keep our city running smoothly. Treating you to breakfast is the least I can do!”
He spoke grandly, eyes discreetly flicking toward her chest.
“Alright then! I gladly accept your offer! But can I make a small request?” The officer seemed to sense his lingering gaze but said nothing, instead deliberately puffing out her chest.
“A small request? No problem! Just tell me what you want, beautiful!” Xue Tian’ai said boldly, shifting his gaze up to her face, which was mostly obscured by her mask, leaving her true expression a mystery.
“Are you sure it’s okay? For you to buy me breakfast…” she hesitated, lowering her head.
“Oh, don’t be so polite! Come on, tell me your request! It’s just breakfast after all!” Xue Tian’ai smiled brightly.
“Well… I want breakfast from that Fresh Milk Time shop across the street. Is that okay?” she asked tentatively, lifting her head.
“Absolutely! Let’s go!” Xue Tian’ai nodded enthusiastically.
“But I still have some work to do here…” the officer said softly, hesitating.
“Oh, that’s too bad,” Xue Tian’ai lamented, then brightened, “Then I’ll buy it and bring it to you! What would you like?”
“The parfait cake set! Is that alright?” Her eyes sparkled with childlike excitement.
“No problem! I’ll be right back!” Xue Tian’ai dashed toward the Fresh Milk Time shop across the street.
Watching him run off, the officer’s expression shifted—gone was the warmth from before.
Because the cakes and pastries in that shop were pre-made, Xue Tian’ai soon returned, holding a delicately packaged bag. Though he smiled, his heart ached.
Even paying the fine would not have cost him as much as 399 yuan… But it was fine; the most important thing now was not to embarrass himself.
“Here you go, beautiful! I got it for you!” Xue Tian’ai said with a gentlemanly smile, extending the bag to her.
“Oh my gosh, thank you so much, handsome!” The officer accepted it happily, her tone brimming with genuine gratitude.
“No need to thank me; it’s nothing…” Xue Tian’ai chuckled, then shifted the topic, “Actually, there’s something I’d like to ask for your help with…”
“What is it?” The officer looked surprised, her hand poised to remove her mask but then lowered it again.
“Well, actually, that black Audi is mine… I just stepped out to throw away some trash. Could you please cancel the ticket for me?” Xue Tian’ai said, pointing toward his car with a sheepish grin.
“Oh?” The officer raised her eyebrow, glanced at the black Audi, then turned back. “That black sports car is yours?”
“Yes, yes!” Xue Tian’ai nodded eagerly.
“Ah… I see…” The officer furrowed her brows, thoughtful. “But you still parked illegally… it’s a bit tricky…”
Xue Tian’ai felt like he was about to spit blood.
“But I’ve decided to help you anyway! After all, you treated me to such a wonderful breakfast!” Suddenly, her tone changed as she snapped her fingers.
“Wow! You’re an angel! Thank you so much!” Xue Tian’ai’s eyes lit up, relieved not to have to eat his words.
“Let’s go! Back to your car! I’ll help cancel the ticket!” The officer’s eyes crinkled into a smile behind her mask, though Xue Tian’ai was unlikely to see it.
Together, they returned to the black Audi TT.
“Give me your car keys!” she said, holding out her hand.
“Uh-huh!” Without thinking, Xue Tian’ai obediently nodded and handed over the keys.
Seeing his clueless expression, the officer was momentarily taken aback. Was his IQ unusually low today?
But his simplicity made things easier. She took the keys, unlocked the driver’s door, and slid inside.
“Hey, handsome, your car is nice—pretty comfortable!” she remarked.
“It’s alright, it’s alright,” Xue Tian’ai waved modestly. But suddenly, a strange feeling crept over him.
Canceling a parking ticket didn’t usually require his car keys or her sitting in the driver’s seat. Something felt off.
“Actually, I’m still rushing to work… maybe we can save the car ride experience for when fate brings us together again?” he suggested.
“Aren’t we already fated enough?” The officer smiled and pressed the button that transformed the Audi TT into a convertible. Then, her hand moved to her mask, preparing to remove it.
“Fated, yes—but…” Xue Tian’ai’s words caught in his throat the moment she revealed her face.
His eyes widened in disbelief as he pointed at the woman sitting in his driver’s seat.
“Wh… what? It’s you?!!!”
“Well? Aren’t we fated enough?” The woman grinned mischievously.
Fated—indeed too fated, but utterly ill-fated.
Because this masked female traffic officer was none other than Shen Xinyi, the renowned police flower of Beiyang City, someone Xue Tian’ai had crossed paths with many times before.
But Shen Xinyi was a criminal investigator, wasn’t she? Why was she here acting as a traffic officer? Xue Tian’ai was momentarily stunned.
“This car is really nice. I’m borrowing it for a couple of days! And thanks for the breakfast!” Shen Xinyi looked at the utterly dumbfounded Xue Tian’ai, feeling thoroughly satisfied.
Awesome! Damn awesome!
After all, it was because of Xue Tian’ai’s scheming in the interrogation room that she had been punished by Director Xia to work as a traffic officer for a day!
Previously, Shen Xinyi had rarely gained the upper hand over Xue Tian’ai; instead, he had taken advantage of her countless times!
But now, seeing him suffer like this was pure ecstasy.
“Wait, what did you say?” Xue Tian’ai questioned, doubting his ears—she was borrowing his car for two days?
“I’m taking the car with me. Oh, and don’t forget to pay that fine when you get a chance!” Shen Xinyi winked and tossed him a ticket before flooring the accelerator and driving off with his car.
It all happened in the blink of an eye. Xue Tian’ai was completely dumbfounded.
Not only had he been tricked into spending 399 yuan on breakfast, but he’d also lost his car—and all the while, the parking ticket was still on him?
He had ended up embarrassing himself after all.
“Shen Xinyi! Damn you! I’m not done with you yet!”
