Chapter Sixty: The Right to a Day’s Date
Time always passes quickly.
In the blink of an eye, it was already afternoon.
The curriculum at Raizen Metropolitan High School was designed with great consideration for the students. Every week, there was an afternoon physical education class for everyone to enjoy, which was quite different from the PE classes in Huaxia, where teachers were either sick or pregnant. Today’s PE lesson was a tennis tournament, with the entire Class 2-4 participating.
“Tennis, huh? But I don’t know how to play!” Shika said, holding a tennis racket and swinging it twice with a distressed look.
Beside her, Rin Goshin took the opportunity to comfort her, “Don’t worry, Shika. I can teach you.”
As the star player of the Raizen High School hockey club, Rin’s athletic performance had always been outstanding. Even tennis posed no challenge for her, making her an ideal instructor for Shika.
As for Shi Ori, she was the type whose temperament and stamina were equally frail. Her physical constitution was poor and she wasn’t skilled at any sport, almost a mirror image of the protagonist from the original work. So she could only stand by as a cheerleader.
However, Su Mo was slightly concerned. Ever since he had Kotori take Shi Ori for a medical examination, they found that Shi Ori’s body was perfectly normal, lacking the special constitution of the original Shido Itsuka, who could seal a spirit’s power with a kiss.
It seemed, then, that although Shi Ori had been feminized, she had no connection to the primal spirit.
Incidentally, Mana Tsugumi was also asked by Kotori to undergo a checkup, successfully uncovering her own physical issues. Upon learning that the DMN organization had performed modifications on her body, Mana decided to leave DMN and join Ratatoskr. This was a cause for celebration for all.
But due to the modifications, Mana Tsugumi only had ten years left to live.
Therefore, Ratatoskr had been working tirelessly to find a cure for Mana, and she had to remain aboard Fraxinus during this time.
Su Mo stood by the tennis court, his gaze fixed on Shika and Rin Goshin.
If one didn’t consider the surrounding oddities, the scene was actually quite heartwarming.
Especially now, Shika had changed into sportswear, her pink miniskirt fluttering in the wind, delighting the eye. Rin Goshin, too, was a sight to behold in a red miniskirt and a beige short-sleeved V-neck T-shirt. The heroic posture she struck as she swung her racket made even Su Mo silently nod in approval.
This was why PE class should be about movement—the most enjoyable thing was simply sitting on the sideline, watching the girls play.
As he watched the tennis match between Shika and Rin Goshin, a voice suddenly came from behind.
Origami Tobiichi was dressed in a white tank top, but what truly shocked everyone was her lower attire—a pair of ultra-short, oversized shorts, so little fabric that it barely covered the essentials. Her outfit was scandalously revealing, even among the crowd, but Su Mo had to admit that Origami’s appearance was certainly captivating.
Although he had changed Origami’s fate, some things remained the same.
For example, Origami was still as single-minded about him as before. Even though her parents were alive, thanks to her aunt being a high-ranking member of the AST, Origami had, by some twist of fate, joined the AST a few years back. But unlike in the past, when she was obsessed with avenging her parents and killing spirits, now Origami simply wished to protect humanity from spatial quakes; her methods toward spirits had become gentler, no longer determined to exterminate them.
“Su Mo, play tennis with me!” Origami walked up to him, almost pressing herself against his side as she invited him.
The scent wafting from Origami made Su Mo feel dizzy, and he nodded subconsciously, “Alright…”
Before he could finish, Shika suddenly shouted angrily, then stormed over and shoved Origami away, glaring at her, “What are you doing? Why are you so close to Su Mo?”
Shika had always been at odds with Origami. Even while playing with Rin, her attention was fixed on Su Mo, so when she saw Origami attempt to take advantage, Shika reacted immediately, determined not to give Origami any opportunity.
If it were someone else approaching Su Mo, Shika might not have been so agitated.
After all, at home, Su Mo often got along well with Yoshino, and sometimes Kotori would slip into little sister mode and cling to him. Under the influence of Su Mo’s harem, Shika had actually become capable of accepting a happy life together with everyone. But Origami was the sole exception.
Fireproof, burglarproof, Origami-proof—this was Shika’s creed.
“I felt a little dizzy just now, and fortunately, Su Mo supported me,” Origami replied expressionlessly, unfazed by being caught in the act, and even answered righteously.
“Is that so?”
Shika eyed Origami suspiciously. With her spirit powers sealed by Su Mo, she was now nearly ordinary, so she hadn’t overheard the conversation between Su Mo and Origami and couldn’t tell if Origami was telling the truth. After thinking for a moment, she suddenly let out a small cry and looked at Su Mo with a pitiful gaze, “Oh, Su Mo, I feel dizzy too. I wish someone could support me right now.”
“Alright, your actions and expressions have already given you away. No need to put on a show for me,” Su Mo said, pulling at the corner of his mouth, a bit helpless.
Girls as innocent as Shika simply couldn’t act convincingly—anyone fooled by her would have to be hopelessly gullible.
Upon hearing this, Shika realized she’d been seen through.
But she didn’t get discouraged.
Shika was never one to keep her feelings hidden; they always showed on her face. Moments ago, she was furious, but in the next instant, she was happily calling out to Su Mo, “Su Mo, I’ve learned how to play tennis now. Let’s play together!”
“No, Su Mo already agreed to play with me,” Origami interjected.
“What did you say?”
Watching Shika and Origami square off again, Su Mo covered his forehead, looking troubled.
Origami seized the opportunity to suggest, “In that case, why not have a tennis match with me? The winner will get a one-day date with Su Mo!”
“Wait, why am I the prize?” Su Mo protested.
But no one paid him any mind.
Shika and Origami’s eyes gleamed with fighting spirit, and for the chance at a one-day date with Su Mo, both readily accepted the challenge.
