Chapter 57: Ten Percent of Power
Destination confirmed.
Tang Mubai immediately got out of the car, returned to his room, changed his clothes, gathered his gear, and only then did he set out for the Xuanlai Hotel.
Xuanlai Hotel was one of the enterprises under the “Red Lake Group.”
Driving over, Tang Mubai saw the enormous sign from afar, turned a corner, and parked his SUV in a lot about a hundred meters from the hotel.
Then, he walked toward the hotel.
Unexpectedly, halfway there, he ran into three men with angry expressions approaching him head-on.
One of them, with triangular eyes, a hooked nose, and about twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old, fixed his gaze on Tang Mubai’s face, his pupils suddenly widening in surprise as he exclaimed, “Tang Mubai?”
Kou Xiaohui?
Tang Mubai cursed inwardly, but ignored him, stepping aside to pass.
However, Kou Xiaohui wouldn’t let him go. He blocked Tang Mubai’s path, sneering, “Hey, kid, didn’t you hear me calling you? Or did your whole family die and the pain made you deaf?”
“Get lost,” Tang Mubai said coldly.
“Haha!”
Kou Xiaohui cackled, gesticulating wildly and hopping about. “Get lost? Are you trying to scare me? Oh, I’m so scared! What about you two, are you scared? This Tang Mubai isn’t just anyone—he’s the leader of the Miracle Mercenary Group! The leader of a one-man group!”
“Ha ha ha...”
The other two men with Kou Xiaohui burst into loud laughter.
“A one-man leader? That counts as a mercenary group?”
“Why not? The Martial Association never said how many people a group must have! One person is perfect—he’s both leader and member, and after missions, all the money goes to him!”
“That’s true, the benefits are plenty for a one-man leader, just the dangers are much greater out in the field.”
“What’s the danger? He’s got backing! The leader of the Madman Mercenary Group is willing to take him along!”
“Is that so? That Madman leader must be loyal.”
“Maybe he’s interested in him! Look at that delicate skin, smoother than a woman’s. Some people like that sort of thing!”
“Ha ha ha...”
The three laughed recklessly.
Tang Mubai’s gaze grew colder. “Are you done laughing? If so, get out of my way!”
This was a busy street, and Tang Mubai endured their mocking for the moment.
“Oh, such a temper.”
Kou Xiaohui, unwilling to let it go, continued sarcastically, “Having someone to back you up really makes a difference. Fine, since Lin Huafeng personally came to talk to my brother-in-law, I’ll give you a chance. Aren’t you a professional martial artist now?”
“My friend here is also a professional martial artist, just recently advanced. Spar with him—if you defeat him, I won’t bother you again! And your uncle’s business, I’ll wipe the slate clean. After all, fussing with a dead man hurts my reputation, haha...”
Kou Xiaohui laughed, stepped back, and motioned for the more muscular of his two companions to step forward and face Tang Mubai.
“It’s just sparring, but go easy, Huzi. Just use ten percent of your strength.”
He emphasized the word “ten,” feigning concern. “Tang Mubai is a leader, after all—a wound would be unfortunate!”
“Don’t worry, I know my limits.”
The burly youth, called Huzi, twisted his neck and clenched his fists, his joints cracking audibly.
“Leader Tang, I’ll use only ten percent. Be ready.”
He smiled broadly, slowly channeling his blood energy into his hands.
“Enough talk. Let’s do this,” Tang Mubai replied, unmoved, a hint of a smile at his lips.
“Alright, here I come.”
Huzi drew a deep breath, raised his hands, and took a fighting stance.
Suddenly—
A sharp whistling sounded.
A powerful surge of blood energy erupted, rumbling like distant thunder.
A fierce fist cleaved the air, heading straight for Tang Mubai’s face.
The explosive energy brushed Tang Mubai’s hair, making it flutter.
Just recently advanced, only ten percent strength?
Nonsense!
This man was a professional martial artist; that punch unleashed at least a hundred calories of blood energy!
Kou Xiaohui had no intention of sparring—he wanted Tang Mubai crippled!
Faced with such a ruthless attack, Tang Mubai naturally showed no mercy.
He met the oncoming fist with a lightning-quick punch of his own.
Bang—
Crack!
“Ah—!”
The blast of energy, the sound of breaking bones, Huzi’s scream—all erupted at nearly the same instant.
With the scream came Huzi’s body, sent flying by a tremendous force, landing over ten meters away, writhing and howling in agony.
His entire right arm bent at a ninety degree angle, the flesh on his forearm shredded and bloody, bone exposed all the way to the shoulder.
Such a horrifying sight stunned not only Kou Xiaohui and his men, but also startled passersby, who quickly avoided the scene and watched from afar.
“Yesterday you sent word for me to be careful. Today, I’m returning the favor. If you provoke me again, beware for your worthless life!”
With that, Tang Mubai strode forward, ignoring Kou Xiaohui’s shock and fury, and left.
Kou Xiaohui trembled all over, whether from fear or rage was unclear.
Only when Tang Mubai’s figure disappeared did he suddenly throw his head back and howl in anger.
The next moment, he ran over to where Huzi still howled in pain, kicking him viciously.
“You bastard, you idiot! Didn’t I tell you to use a hundred calories of blood energy? You damned fool, why did you really use only ten percent?”
“Damn it, you moron, you actually pulled your punches with him! Tell me, whose side are you on? Did my brother-in-law pay you, or did that little punk? Well? Speak up! Pull your punches? I’ll show you pulling your punches!”
Kou Xiaohui kicked and cursed relentlessly.
“I... I didn’t pull my punches...” Huzi groaned, rolling on the ground and enduring the pain. “That kid’s strength... is enormous. That punch just now... must have been at least two thousand kilograms. I did unleash my blood energy, but his strength is... far greater than mine. He... his power completely... completely offset my blood energy!”
“Who are you kidding!”
Kou Xiaohui refused to listen, still cursing. “That Tang guy was always a useless nobody, just advanced to professional martial artist recently. How could he have the power to offset a hundred calories of blood energy? If you’re going to make excuses, at least pick a better one!”
“I... I’m not making excuses... ah!”
“Still arguing! Damn you, still arguing!”
Kou Xiaohui’s face twisted in fury as he kicked and cursed.
Yet in his eyes, doubt and disbelief flickered wildly.
