Chapter Five: Unskilled in Medicine
"Who are you?"
Zhu Yaotang's face was filled with confusion.
"Ye Cheng, how dare you come back!"
Xu Fengnian immediately shouted angrily.
"The old master is ill. Of course I have to return. Apart from me, no one in this world can save him,"
Ye Cheng replied calmly.
"So you’re Ye Cheng? Ha, what a joke. Do you even know your own status? How dare you say such things? I doubt you even have a medical license issued by the Yanxia Medical Association,"
Zhu Yaotang was briefly surprised, then laughed disdainfully.
"What does it matter to you if I don’t have a medical license?"
Ye Cheng retorted coldly.
As the revered God of Medicine, why would he need a license?
No one in this world would dare to issue him one!
Even the president of the Yanxia Medical Association would greet him respectfully and seek his advice.
"Ye Cheng, don’t be so arrogant. Young Master Zhu is a renowned physician recognized by the Yanxia Medical Association. If he can’t save the old master, then no one can!"
Xu Fengnian stepped forward, continuing his scolding.
"That’s right. If even I, a top physician of Yanxia, cannot cure Elder Luo, then there’s truly no hope. If you’re just using the old master as an excuse to pester Qiuyu, I suggest you find somewhere else to cool off! Qiuyu has just agreed to marry me,"
Zhu Yaotang sneered at Ye Cheng, simultaneously taking Luo Qiuyu’s hand. Luo Qiuyu did not resist; instead, she looked at Ye Cheng with unmistakable ridicule.
"I have no interest in such a woman,"
Ye Cheng shook his head, utterly unconcerned.
"What did you say!"
Luo Qiuyu was instantly furious.
"I have no interest in women who resort to underhanded tricks,"
Ye Cheng repeated.
"You!"
Luo Qiuyu’s face flushed with anger.
"Enough, Qiuyu. Don’t get upset. He’s just stubborn and refuses to admit defeat. He’s not worth your health,"
Zhu Yaotang comforted her, his eyes full of mockery as he glanced at Ye Cheng.
"I mean it. The old master is suffering from a sudden surge of anger, causing his blood to flow in reverse. He must be treated immediately with acupuncture. If not, the blood will stagnate, and he may become demented!"
Ye Cheng was still concerned for Elder Luo’s health.
"Utter nonsense! Sudden anger and reversed blood flow can only be treated with herbal medicine. Acupuncture is completely useless,"
Zhu Yaotang, a top physician in Yanxia, had some skill.
But in Ye Cheng’s eyes, it was nothing but empty theory. Acupuncture was ineffective only because their technique was too slow and their point selection imprecise, thus causing harm instead of benefit.
Ye Cheng, however, had no such problem.
"Yanxia Medical Association, Case Number 323: Acupuncture saved Former Left Minister Lord Li,"
Ye Cheng calmly cited a case.
"The situation is indeed very similar to the old master’s,"
Suddenly recalling a past case, Zhu Yaotang was deeply surprised. Could Ye Cheng really be a renowned doctor?
But soon he dismissed the idea. Ye Cheng was merely an insignificant son-in-law. How could his medical skills surpass his own?
It must be sheer luck—he just happened to see the case and remembered it!
"There’s no time. Move aside, I must save him at once,"
Ye Cheng spoke with an authority that brooked no argument.
"You claim you can save the old master. Who will vouch for you? What if you know nothing about medicine and end up killing him?"
Zhu Yaotang blocked the way, snorting coldly.
"I can swear an oath,"
Ye Cheng was forced to compromise.
"If everyone without a medical license could simply swear an oath and start treating people, Yanxia would be flooded with quacks, killing countless patients! Can you bear such responsibility?"
Zhu Yaotang laughed.
Just then, a man in military uniform strode in, his presence commanding respect:
"The Qin family will vouch for Ye Cheng!"
