Chapter 35: Let the World Have a Little More Love

16:16. Cooldown ended.
Yu Xunge logged into her game immediately.
Only 54 minutes remained until the end of the third closed beta.
After logging in, Yu Xunge first disguised herself as a goblin, then returned to the city. After learning all the regional specialties at the Silvermoon City restaurant, she teleported to the Bloodmoon City she had previously visited. There, she found some wealthy goblins and, through much persuasion, managed to trade for 10,000 gold. Checking the time, she realized she still had enough, so she spent a bit more time gathering another 800 gold from a few poorer goblins.
By then, she had 20,800 gold from the two elven main cities, plus 378 gold accumulated from crafting 3 gold worth of items daily between June 7th and October 10th. After deducting the costs for teleportation and learning recipes, she was left with 21,108 gold, along with 1,084 gold bricks obtained from the Su family.
She spent money to learn the specialty recipes at the Bloodmoon City restaurant before returning to the undead city where she had first learned alchemy. Walking into the alchemy shop, she approached the figure busy behind a cauldron and test tubes, typing the word "Teacher" into the input box.
The undead female mentor did not pause her work but suddenly issued a quest: [Alchemy Master Hetchpa asks you to craft ten basic potions and ten intermediate potions.]
She didn't specify whether they had to be identical, but Yu Xunge understood this was a test of her skill.
In this game, everything relies on progress bars... it was hard to tell.
After a moment's thought, she selected twenty different types of potions she had recently crafted that she felt were her best work and submitted them: "Teacher, these are my recent results."
On the screen, the undead mentor stopped shaking the test tube and accepted Yu Xunge’s potions.
A few minutes later, the quest was marked as complete.
The reward was a book: [Hetchpa’s Alchemy Notes].
[Hetchpa’s Alchemy Notes] (Grade A): The notes of Alchemy Master Hetchpa, recording her insights and realizations while advancing from a high-level alchemist to a master alchemist. You cannot learn recipes from this, but perhaps you might gain something more precious. (They innovate in alchemy for the sake of glory, but I—I am different. I do it just to earn extra money to buy wine, which is why my potions are the most unique; the potions labeled with my name always sell the best. After all this time, they still don't understand that there is no future in working for passion! — Hetchpa)
After silently reading the item’s description, Yu Xunge took out two thousand gold and handed it to Hetchpa: "I might not be able to come back again."
Before she could even click send, the two thousand gold had already been taken by Hetchpa.
Yu Xunge: ".................."
The next second, Hetchpa tossed over a dark green cloth bag.
[Hetchpa’s Potion Bag (0/8)] (Grade S): Hetchpa always receives so many orders that she uses this little gadget to store them. The maximum stack count is 999.
The biggest surprise was not just the 999 stack limit for similar items, but that it was a utility item that didn't occupy a backpack slot!
Immediately after, a pop-up appeared: [Bind to character?]
Yu Xunge was ecstatic and clicked "Yes" immediately!
This time, she learned her lesson. She typed, "Teacher, that was just for you to buy wine; you don't need to give me anything else. I really enjoy alchemy," and only after sending the message did she generously hand over another thousand gold to Hetchpa.
Seeing that Hetchpa truly had no intention of giving her anything else, Yu Xunge smiled and turned to leave; she still had to rush to the auction house.
In a few days, it would be the wedding of Su Yitong and Yu Xunhuan. Family members are different from guests; while one might give a cash gift for an engagement, it is better to give an actual gift for a wedding.
Moreover, Su Yitong had given her twenty million last time, so she couldn't afford to look stingy.
She didn't feel aggrieved by this at all. Considering how many attribute points she had pilfered from Su Yitong, along with a Grade A item and an ear—while Su Yitong didn't even know who her enemy was and was still giving her money to spend—and thinking about how Yu Xunhuan's divine talent was basically 80% crippled, any sense of grievance she might have had vanished.
It was difficult to "impress" Su Yitong with real-world items, but she was unwilling to give away anything truly valuable from the game.
However, she thought of something good.
[The Pleasure Witch’s Bed] (Grade C): Increases the intimacy between couples and lovers, allowing lovers sleeping in this bed to enjoy ultimate pleasure. No one is allowed to say they can't.
It was truly a great item—completely useless, but a Grade C item nonetheless!
And it was super cheap, costing only 20 gold.
Bought!
Let there be more love in the world!!!
[Binding Stone] (Grade A): After use, it can bind a piece of equipment or an item to your soul. It cannot be lost or stolen by anyone, not even the God of Thieves himself. When your soul dissipates, it will also turn to ash and return to the embrace of the void.
Yu Xunge: Are you targeting me?!
But others need it, and she needed it too!
100 gold each; Yu Xunge bought 50 of them directly!
She spent 5,000 gold without blinking.

Then, Yu Xunge started buying cooking recipes. As long as the auction house had something she hadn't learned yet, she bought it all.
Worried about buying duplicates, she learned each one as she bought it.
These were all preparations surrounding the "God of Cooking" talent. Even if low-level recipes weren't very useful, learning more of them would help her create her own recipes in the future.
Once the "God of Cooking" tasks were done, she turned to the "Sharpshooter" talent.
[Explosive Arrow] (Grade B): Fires an explosive arrow. Upon hitting a target, it causes an explosion, dealing damage to the target and all enemies within a 2-meter radius. Consumes 100 mana per use, no cooldown.
[Knockback Shot] (Grade C): The weapon you fire produces an energy wave that pushes enemies back. Consumes 30 mana per use, 3-minute cooldown.
[Soul Resistance (Passive)] (Grade S): Permanently provides a layer of soul-level defense. Can immunize against mental control skills and reduces damage from mental attacks by 30%.
One area-of-effect attack, one knockback, and one mental control immunity.
Originally, after buying the area attack and the knockback, Yu Xunge had wanted to buy an offensive skill, but she hadn't expected to see Soul Resistance.
Even though it was priced as high as 12,000 gold, making it even more expensive than Shadow Step, Yu Xunge bought it without hesitation.
High-end skills were exactly what she wanted.
The Explosive Arrow cost 450 gold, the Knockback Shot 130 gold, plus the 3,000 gold previously given to mentor Hetchpa, 5,000 gold for the binding stones, 20 gold for the bed, and 485 gold spent on purchasing and learning recipes.
She now had only 23 gold left.
Yu Xunge was completely satisfied!!!
That is how money should be spent. Passing by a herb shop, Yu Xunge spent her last 23 gold on herbs needed for high-level reveal potions before leaving the undead city.
Then, she logged off and simultaneously canceled the shadow in the treasure room.
At this time, it was only 17:03.
