Mo Yu was once again awakened by Alpha. The mechanical dog lay on top of him, pounding his head with its iron skull.
“Director, it’s 5:20 a.m. The sun is about to rise; it’s time to get up.”
“Can’t you wake me up more normally?”
“You set the alarm to vibration mode last night.”
“Alright, alright, so you vibrate my head, huh?”
Mo Yu flipped Alpha over.
He did set an alarm last night, asking Alpha to wake him before sunrise.
As everyone knows, vampires fear sunlight.
He wanted to see if he could go out in the morning.
After getting up and freshening up, he asked about last night’s situation.
Alpha had recorded everything; nothing unusual happened—a very calm night.
By the time he finished tidying up, the sun had already risen.
Opening the window, warm sunlight bathed his body. A cool breeze brushed his skin, carrying the scent of grass and earth. The rustling of leaves in the woods was faint but serene.
The sky was a deep blue.
Mo Yu gazed, entranced.
This was a sensation unattainable inside the space station: the breath of life. He leaned by the window, savoring this rare morning moment.
Just as he closed his eyes to feel the breeze, the light dimmed.
Someone blocked the sun.
The other party moved swiftly; he could sense the airflow stirred by their movement, accompanied by a refined fragrance that wafted into his nose.
Mo Yu opened his eyes with displeasure.
He saw Iris.
In the morning light, the girl was even more beautiful than last night, silently hovering outside his window.
Iris was dressed uniquely, wearing a white sports outfit accented with blue and pink, matched with black and white sneakers. Her golden hair was tied high in a ponytail, radiating youthful energy.
Mo Yu was puzzled when Iris greeted coldly, “Come with me.”
“All right, Miss.”
He responded and turned to head downstairs.
Something’s wrong.
Wait! Isn’t she a vampire?
Why can she stand in the sunlight?
Mo Yu sensed the anomaly.
“Alpha, vampires fear sunlight, right?”
“Yes. Even the vampire grand duke cannot endure prolonged exposure to sunlight. Certain ultraviolet wavelengths cause energy imbalance within their bodies. During the vampire era, each city had a shading layer to keep the urban areas in darkness year-round.”
“Sounds like a fake vampire to me.”
Mo Yu muttered sarcastically.

Opening the door, the corridor was dim, with only a window at the far end letting in light, illuminating a small patch. Most areas were pitch black with no other vampires in sight.
Going downstairs to the entrance.
Iris was warming up here, her figure fully displayed. Although she was an A-cup, her slender, graceful form and vibrant youthfulness exuded a tantalizing freshness.
If Mo Yu didn’t know her background, he would have been fooled.
Who would expect a vampire to do morning exercise?
“Follow me.”
After stretching, Iris said and then jogged off in one direction.
Mo Yu followed at a distance.
His physical condition was well balanced.
Strength, speed, stamina all good, no weaknesses or outstanding points. His current endurance was comparable to that of a professional marathon runner.
Outside the manor was an upscale villa district.
The environment was excellent, with a large artificial lake in the center.
The two ran along the lake’s edge.
Mo Yu observed his surroundings.
Blood-red characters appeared occasionally; many bloodthirsty bats lurked in the shadows, spying, but no vampires were visible.
Half an hour later.
Iris stopped in front of a villa, panting heavily and covered in sweat, looking just like a normal human with no vampire traits.
A two-story European-style villa.
Two people waited at the door.
A graceful, mature noblewoman.
A black-haired beauty dressed as a maid.
Iris rushed to the noblewoman, like a child who never grew up, calling her “Mom” with a sweet smile, while the noblewoman’s face was full of love.
A perfect picture of maternal affection.
Mo Yu stood ten meters away, his attention fixed on the maid.
Her black hair was pinned up, very beautiful, tall and straight figure, exuding a capable aura—clearly a workplace elite.
[This is a vampire, very dangerous. Recommended to escape.]
Another vampire unafraid of sunlight. The maid was Iris’s subordinate; the ability to withstand sunlight must be a special power of Iris, passed down through bloodline to her followers.
Mo Yu made this deduction.
Iris and the noblewoman entered the villa.
The maid didn’t move but stared at Mo Yu from afar, clearly waiting for him.
Mo Yu approached.
The maid scrutinized him up and down, then beckoned him to follow. They entered the basement level through another entrance, arriving at a small bedroom. The space was limited but fully furnished: a single bed, desk, chairs, and other furniture.
The maid explained:
“There’s no suitable place for you in the manor. From today, you will work under me as a domestic staff member employed by this villa.”
“The young lady is the only daughter of this family, named Iris De. Her true identity must be kept secret. You should know what to say and what not to say.”

She pointed to the suit on the bed and then to items on the desk:
“Change into these clothes, keep your ID card and phone with you, and maintain contact. Before departure, you may move freely around the villa but are not allowed upstairs or into the master’s room. Breakfast has been prepared for you in the kitchen. If you have any questions, use the phone app to ask me.”
Mo Yu nodded.
After the maid finished explaining, she left.
He sat on the bed, stroking his chin, pondering Iris’s intentions.
He had expected to be confined inside the manor, but he never imagined Iris would bring him along. As long as there was a chance to go out or blind spots in surveillance, he was free.
He changed clothes and picked up the ID card on the desk.
It bore his name and photo; everything else was fake information. Apparently, someone had worked overtime last night to research and quickly prepared this false identity.
He checked the phone.
This new smartphone had only one app on the home screen, called Butler Ding. Opening it revealed a single contact, the maid, marked as No.1.
Mo Yu opened the app store and downloaded a map app called High Bird.
He scanned nearby locations for gun shops.
Yes, gun shops.
The United Central Republic was very liberal, not restricting firearms.
Mo Yu only had a small-caliber automatic micro-submachine gun. He needed bigger firepower; before reaching Iris’s level, firearms were the best option.
If he could get C4, he could blow up the entire manor.
But there was one problem.
He had no money.
That wasn’t an issue either—zero-cost purchases were possible.
He memorized the locations of these gun shops for future use. After playing with his phone for a while, he began inspecting the villa, rewinding several times until he fully understood its layout.
This was an ordinary wealthy family home.
Nothing special, clearly a disguise for Iris’s external identity.
This vampire was excessively cautious.
He left the villa and circled around, searching for hidden sentinels but found no blood-letter clues.
Iris confidently let him out.
She wasn’t afraid he would escape at all.
Mo Yu stopped at a few concealed spots to create rewind checkpoints, then returned to the villa to get his breakfast.
A sandwich and a box of milk.
He devoured them ravenously; after all, it had been a long time since he had real food. After the meteor attack, he had been surviving on nutrient paste, which was tasteless.
After eating, he went to the garage to wait.
Footsteps came from the corridor.
Iris appeared, meticulously dressed in a white blouse, black pleated skirt, black stockings, and leather boots—a school uniform that seemed to increase attack speed by 100%.
