Chapter 46: Operation Rabbit Walk
Elise slowly regained consciousness, feeling the bumpy motion beneath her and the roaring sound of the vehicle in her ears. Upon opening her eyes, she found herself face-to-face with Alpha’s dog-like robotic head.
Pushing Alpha aside, she looked around and realized she was inside a car, with the coastal scenery and blue sky visible through the windows.
Alpha’s mechanical voice chimed in: "Station Master, the target has regained consciousness."
"I know," Moyu’s voice came from the front seat.
Elise remained calm and quiet, throwing neither tantrums nor making a fuss. She lowered her gaze to check her body; she was dressed only in a simple white nightgown, completely unburdened by anything underneath.
Moyu had inspected her thoroughly to ensure she was not carrying anything dangerous.
Alpha shifted its posture, squatting on the adjacent seat. The mechanical voice reported, "Station Master, the current world perturbation value is 21%, which meets the minimum requirement. The current derivative timeline can be temporarily retained, but for safety's sake, please continue to raise it."
"Taking them away from this timeline is enough," Moyu replied, then instructed, "Check the inventory list."
"Understood, Station Master."
Alpha’s breathing lights flickered as it resumed working state.
Elise said nothing, quietly listening to the conversation between the man and the dog. After a moment, she asked, "What has happened to my body? Where are you taking me?"
"To a world several thousand years in the future."
"..."
"Don't believe it? Well, it certainly sounds absurd. You'll understand when the time comes."
"Have I completely turned back into a human?"
"Temporarily."
Elise spoke no further. She drew her knees to her chest, curling her body into a ball, and stared straight at Moyu, her thoughts unreadable.
Moyu was in no mood to guess what she was thinking. His attention was focused on his phone, where he was simultaneously observing Alice's movements and guiding her in circles around the city.
In short, the Rabbit-Walking Operation.
The goal was to keep her constantly moving while he observed from various angles to ensure she was not accompanied by any subordinates.
The car soon arrived at the lighthouse.
Moyu parked the vehicle and stepped out to stretch his limbs.
Alpha also jumped out of the car, burrowing into the underground warehouse to check the inventory list and calculate the most efficient stacking method. The return process would draw everything around him back, but within a limited range. To bring back more supplies, a more scientific method of stacking was required.
Elise opened the car door, but she did not step out. Moyu had not prepared shoes for her, and the ground was covered in rough stones. Realizing this, she sat quietly in her seat, simply turning sideways and dangling her fair, delicate bare feet just above the ground.
Moyu walked to the back row of the car and leaned against the vehicle while browsing his phone.
Elise asked, "What on earth are you? Who are you working for?"
"Save it. Don't bother struggling. Scoot inside a bit," Moyu replied.
Reluctantly, Elise made room.
He climbed into the car, closed the door, and handed his phone to Elise, saying, "Here, watch a good show."
Elise glanced at the phone, her attention instantly captured. She took the device from Moyu’s hand and watched intently.
The phone was in a video call mode.
On the screen, Moyu was locking gazes with Alice against the backdrop of a desolate wilderness.
"Good morning, Miss Alice."
Moyu was dressed in a floral shirt and swim trunks, wearing sunglasses and with a lollipop stick dangling from the corner of his mouth.
Alice was not looking her best. Although still dressed in full elaborate attire—twin tails, a Gothic dress, black silk stockings, and bow-adorned high heels—she looked visibly exhausted, exuding a desolate, shattered-faith aesthetic.
She stared at Moyu, her emotions unreadable.
Maintaining an utterly nonchalant attitude, Moyu pulled out a small chair, sat down, and said, "I know you're in a rush, but don't rush just yet. Let's chat."
"What is there to talk about? Give her back to me!"
"What do you think my ability is now?"
"..."
"Go ahead and speak your mind. My ability has nothing to do with time."
"Liar! Do you really think I'll believe your words?!"
"Then let's talk about something you do know. One of my abilities is creating duplicates. You can't deny that, can you?"
"..."
Alice fell silent. Of course, she could not deny it; Moyu had used his duplicate ability right before her eyes to steal the inducer.
Moyu continued, "You've heard of the Rioter, haven't you? To be completely honest, I am the Rioter."
"It really was you."
Alice's expression grew stern. She had suspected it all along—the timing of the Rioter's appearances had been too clever, executing precise slaughters with pre-emptive accuracy, which led her to connect the two, though she had lacked proof.
"My second ability is seeing through monsters. How many monsters are lurking nearby, and of what species, I can see as clear as day. You're not keeping your word, Miss Alice," Moyu warned.
The system prompt was quite clear: a large number of monsters were concealed all around them. Although invisible to the naked eye, they ultimately could not escape the system's lock-on.
Alice bit her lower lip.
After delivering those words, Moyu vanished instantly: "Let's meet at the next location. My patience is limited."
The video cut off.
Elise looked at Moyu, her eyes filled with confusion.
"You..."
She trailed off, knowing that even if she asked, he would never tell her the truth, so she simply chose to keep her mouth shut.
Moyu said, "Just wait a moment. There's another act coming up."
He retrieved a sun umbrella, two lounge chairs, a folding table, and various drinks and snacks from the trunk. After setting them up on a clean, orderly patch of ground, he returned to the car and hoisted Elise over his shoulder.
Elise protested against this treatment.
Her protests were ignored.
Moyu placed her onto one of the lounge chairs, stretched out on the other, and quietly admired the ocean view.
Once they boarded the space station, sights like this would no longer be available.
Where the next temporal rift would transport him was anyone's guess, but according to related theories, it would most likely land around 2033, with the exact coordinates remaining unknown.
Elise felt a trace of sorrow. Spotting the food on the table, she couldn't resist picking up a piece of cake, popping it into her mouth, and then eating continuously.
An hour later.
"Stop eating. The second act is about to begin."
Moyu reminded her.
Elise, who was currently gnawing on a chicken leg, acknowledged his words and pulled out a tissue to wipe her hands.
Throughout that hour, her little mouth had hardly stopped moving; she had been eating the entire time.
When asked why, her answer was simply that it tasted good.
Although she could eat human food and retained her sense of taste while in her vampire state, her brain refused to process the food as something good, creating a cognitive dissonance that made it taste like chewing wax. However, upon returning to human form, her perception of food had also normalized.
The video call opened once again.
This time, Moyu leaned in closer to observe intently.
Even though he had lived through these events himself, something felt slightly off to him.
Alice was cooperating far too much this time.
In the video:
After confirming that no blood-text warnings had appeared, Moyu retrieved a brand-new set of women's clothing and slippers from the car trunk and tossed them to Alice, saying:
"Take off those clothes and put these on. Don't try to hide any items."
Alice cooperated readily, immediately beginning to strip off her clothes, baring her body before putting on the simple dress and slippers.
The process went exceptionally smoothly.
Alice acted as if she had given up struggling, adopting an attitude of "do whatever you want with me."
"Very well. Get in the car, and I'll take you to her."
Moyu beckoned.
Alice drew closer.
Once the distance was close enough, he struck decisively.
Subduing Alice in an instant, he pressed her back against the car. She struggled slightly for a moment before going completely still, maintaining that same submissive posture.
The entire process went with abnormal smoothness.
So smoothly that Moyu couldn't shake the feeling it was a trap.
He reached out to search Alice's person, checking for any hidden gadgets.
Nothing was found.
Alice offered no resistance whatsoever throughout the process, not even reacting when certain parts of her body were touched.
