8. First Kill of the Level 4 Boss!
Page 1/3
Su Yu’s mind was racing, but his hands moved just as swiftly. One after another, Lightning Arrows shot out from the tip of his wand, while Fireballs activated from his magic scrolls, turning the surrounding Mountain Goats into his experience points. Wherever he went, rows of Mountain Goat corpses fell like harvested chives.
With no other players nearby this time, there was no worry about being seen, so Su Yu grew even more reckless.
After about ten minutes of leveling, having slain over four hundred Mountain Goats, he suddenly noticed an eerie wind blowing from above. Looking up, Su Yu saw a golden goat, half again as large as the others, hurtling straight down at him.
Mountain Goat Leader (Elite)
HP: 800
A green elite-level boss goat!
It turned out that moments ago, the boss goat had respawned not far from Su Yu’s location. By coincidence—or misfortune—Su Yu’s Lightning Arrow had struck it.
Enraged by the attack, the boss goat’s eyes turned blood red as it unleashed its skill, Leap Stomp. It leapt into the air and descended forcefully onto Su Yu’s position.
Su Yu had been daydreaming during his leveling grind, only snapping back to reality as the boss goat was about to stomp on him. He scrambled to dodge sideways, but it was too late. He had only taken two steps when the boss’s hooves slammed down where he had just stood.
Boom!
Dust swirled where the boss landed, creating a minor earthquake.
-78!
The tremor hit Su Yu, slashing his health drastically. From 90 points, his HP plummeted to just 12—life-threateningly low.
Fortunately, his Rare-quality Reinforced Novice Mage Robe and Cloth Boots granted him an extra 20 defense points. Without that, this single hit would have instantly killed him.
“Phew, lucky not to be one-shotted. Getting kicked offline by a low-level monster would be so embarrassing!” Su Yu breathed a sigh of relief.
In Evolution, dying in the wild to monsters or players doesn’t cause level loss or equipment drops. However, each death forces a half-hour forced logout with no login allowed during that time, and it reduces your total daily game time by thirty minutes. (Players can only log in for up to 12 hours daily.)
If Su Yu were to be kicked offline for half an hour due to carelessness, it would be a huge loss!
...
The boss goat was oblivious to Su Yu’s thoughts. As an “Elite” quality boss, besides Leap Stomp, it had two more skills.
“Baa!”
The boss goat let out a bleat and activated its skill, Flock Summon.

Five beams of white light flashed as five Mountain Goats were summoned, all targeting Su Yu!
Then the boss unleashed its third skill, Flock Charge, rushing forward at full speed with its “goat minions” to take down this intruder.
Su Yu, however, remained calm.
Though he was now barely clinging to life, one touch from the goats would kill him, and he had no health potions. Yet Su Yu was no stranger to high-level monster assaults. In his previous life, faced with the relentless bullet-hell attacks of advanced monsters, his skills had been honed to perfection.
Though the boss was elite-level, it was no threat to Su Yu.
Watching the herd’s charge, Su Yu timed the boss’s trajectory and elegantly sidestepped its collision.
He then downed a Basic Intelligence Potion, boosting his intellect by ten points.
With his left hand, he cast Ice Arrow from a scroll, while his right hand wielded the wand to unleash Lightning Arrow.

The attacks struck the boss, cutting its health by 18% and slowing its movement speed by 20% thanks to the Ice Arrow effect.
Moreover, the Lightning Arrow triggered a 40% chance to paralyze the boss, freezing it in place.
Su Yu didn’t bother finishing off the boss immediately; instead, he prioritized the goat minions.
Compared to their leader, the “goat minions” looked fragile.
Standing his ground, Su Yu unleashed a barrage of spells:
Lightning Arrow!
Fireball!

The five minions never got close, dissolving into streaks of white light under his attacks.
With the minions dealt with, Su Yu turned his full attention to the boss.
Dodging its attacks, he hurled spell after spell.
The boss’s HP quickly dropped below 50%.
The boss had a simple AI; under the relentless magical assault, it began to panic.
Instead of continuing the fight, it turned and fled in the opposite direction.
The boss actually tried to run!
But Su Yu wasn’t about to let a “cooked duck” fly away.
He chased after the boss, continuing to bombard it with Ice Arrow scrolls and Lightning Arrows.

Lightning Arrow had a casting time of only 0.5 seconds and immense power.
After only a few steps, the boss’s HP fell below 20%.
Knowing it couldn’t escape, it suddenly turned around and unleashed the freshly cooled-down Leap Stomp, leaping toward Su Yu in an attempt to crush him to pulp.
But the previous time Su Yu had been caught off guard, leading to his injury. This time, fully alert, there was no way the boss could land a hit.
Su Yu calculated the boss’s landing zone and positioned himself just outside the skill’s area of effect.
Boom!
The boss’s hooves slammed into the spot where Su Yu had stood moments ago, creating a small earthquake over several square meters.
But Su Yu was safely beyond the tremor’s reach, unharmed.
He immediately cast another Lightning Arrow and hurled a Fireball scroll.

“Baa—”
The boss’s HP was completely depleted as it collapsed weakly to the ground.
“Ding! You have slain Mountain Goat Leader (Elite) Lv.4, gaining 80 experience points.”
After killing over four hundred goats, Su Yu’s experience bar was nearly full. This final 80 points filled the gap.
A dazzling golden light flashed around him as he successfully leveled up to Level 3!
With the new level, Su Yu’s spell power naturally rose to 28.
Moreover, the Rare-quality Crescent Moon Wand dropped by the Black Boar Leader was now usable!
Su Yu upgraded the Crescent Moon Wand to Rare quality.
Crescent Moon Wand Lv.3 (Rare)
Spell Power: 16
Intelligence +5
Mana Regeneration +5
The Crescent Moon Wand replaced his Novice Wand.
Compared to the Novice Wand, it added 8 more spell power, pushing Su Yu’s total spell power to an astonishing 34!
“I bet not even a Level 10 mage has stats this high!” Su Yu felt exhilarated.
Combined with his Rare-quality Lightning Arrows’ high output, other mage players might reach Level 20 and still not match his terrifying damage!
This was the terrifying power born of legendary talents and infinite resources!
