52. The Curse of the Sad Mummy Instance (Part 1)

Entering the instance.
The first third of the instance takes place in a vast desert, under a scorching sun with blowing yellow sand everywhere.
At the entrance of the instance, Suyu met the protagonist of the instance—Amumu, the Sad Mummy.
Amumu was a small mummy wrapped entirely in cyan bandages.
At this moment, he was crouching in a corner, his eyes glittering with loneliness and melancholy.
Seeing Suyu, he walked over slowly and waved to greet him:
"Hello, adventurer. I am Prince Amumu of the Shurima Kingdom, and I like a girl named Annie... (100 words omitted)... Now, we are going to defeat an opponent to prove to Annie that I can protect her!"
After saying this, Amumu walked forward on his own along the only path in the instance.
Suyu quickly followed.
After walking about a dozen steps, the first batch of mobs in the instance appeared before them.
[Fidgety Mummy]
HP: 750
Attack Power: 30
Skills: [Toxic Bite]: Bites the target, dealing 120% damage, stacking one layer of [Poison], and refreshing the duration of the [Poison] effect on the target.
[Poison]: Deals 5 toxin damage per second for 4 seconds. Stacks up to 10 times.
[Rebirth (Passive)]: Upon death, immediately resurrects and restores 30% of maximum HP.
......
[Yellow Sand Soldier]
HP: 650
Attack Power: 45
Skills: [Yellow Sand Dash]: Dashes toward the target location and causes the next attack to deal 150% attack power in damage.
[Heart Follows the Sand (Passive)]: Randomly switches attack targets every 5 seconds and ignores any form of forced attack effects.
……
There were a total of 5 mobs in the first wave of the instance, consisting of 3 [Fidgety Mummies] and 2 [Yellow Sand Soldiers].
After reaching level 10, the difficulty of instance mobs increased noticeably.
The stacking poison effect of the [Fidgety Mummies] was extremely troublesome for tank classes. If damage-dealing classes could not eliminate them quickly, it was very easy for HP to plummet due to the high stacks of [Poison].
The [Yellow Sand Soldiers] switched their attack targets every 5 seconds and were immune to taunts, posing a huge threat to fragile damage-dealing classes and priests.
It is safe to say that unless a five-man party entering the instance had exceptionally good skills or overwhelming gear, they would struggle even against the first wave of mobs.
However, for Suyu, these mobs posed no difficulty at all.

There were only 5 mobs, and 5 were not enough.
The [Fidgety Mummies] couldn't even get close to him; he only needed to watch out for the [Yellow Sand Dash] of the Yellow Sand Soldiers.
......
The battle began.
The [Fidgety Mummies] let out eerie laughter, stretching out their two claws as they shuffled toward him.
The two [Yellow Sand Soldiers] moved at extreme speeds, turning into two golden afterimages as they sprinted toward Suyu after executing [Yellow Sand Dash].
Suyu was not flustered in the least.
As the [Yellow Sand Soldiers] approached, a giant ice ring exploded centered on him, freezing both sand soldiers.
Then, scrolls of [Lightning Arrow], [Chain Lightning], and [Lesser Fireball] were unreservedly smashed onto the sand soldiers.

With two spells combined with two scrolls, one of the [Yellow Sand Soldiers], boasting a high HP of 650, immediately collapsed, and the remaining one was left with only two-thirds of its HP.
Suyu cast two more spells, and this sand soldier also fell to the ground.
As for the remaining three [Fidgety Mummies], they were still very far away from Suyu.
……
While Suyu was battling the five mobs, Amumu also threw a bandage to entangle a distant [Fidgety Mummy], pulling himself over.
However, its combat power was negligible; its attacks against the mummy only dealt single-digit damage like -5 and -8.
......
Easily eliminating the remaining few mobs using spells, Suyu continued forward with Amumu.
In the vast desert, besides mobs, various giant sand whirlwinds were scattered everywhere.
If a player made a movement error and entered a sand whirlwind, they would be sucked in by the yellow sand and instantly killed.
This had caused players attempting the initial raid to suffer immensely.
However, having cleared this instance dozens of times, Suyu knew the locations of all the sand whirlwinds like the back of his hand.
Nimbly dodging the sand whirlwinds and clearing the monsters along the way, Suyu and Amumu easily arrived before the first boss of the instance.
……
The first boss of the instance was named [Emperor of the Sands, Azir].
At this moment, the Emperor of the Sands was standing atop a towering pyramid, holding a golden spear, wearing golden armor, and looking down majestically at everything below.

Azir was the emperor of the Shurima Kingdom, and Amumu was the prince of the Shurima Kingdom.
Yet the two were not father and son; instead, they were in a hostile relationship.
......
Amumu walked quickly toward Azir and said, "Azir, I am going to defeat you completely! Only this way can I prove that I have the ability to protect Annie!"
The Emperor of the Sands shook his head in puzzlement: "Amumu, what kind of strange logic is this? Why does defeating me prove that you can protect Annie?"
"I don't care, I just want to defeat you!" Amumu was extremely stubborn.
Then he turned his head, looking at Suyu with hollow, slightly yearning eyes: "Go ahead, adventurer, you will help me, right?"
"Of course."
Suyu nodded and directly hurled a [Lightning Arrow] toward the Emperor of the Sands.

A huge number popped up above the Emperor of the Sands' head.
Flying into a rage, the Emperor of the Sands summoned [Yellow Sand Soldiers] to deal with Suyu.
……
The boss [Emperor of the Sands, Azir] was a rhythm-based boss.
In Phase 1, the boss would summon 10 [Yellow Sand Soldiers].
The boss本体 (body) engaged players with 3 soldiers, while the remaining 7 yellow sand soldiers formed a single file line and ran around the giant open area in front of the pyramid.
At the same time, an energy block called [Golden Crystal] would randomly spawn in the giant open area in front of the pyramid.
If a player consumed the energy block, their damage would increase by 50%; if the 7 running Yellow Sand Soldiers consumed an energy block, their count would increase by 3.
If players failed to consume the energy blocks for a prolonged period, the running Yellow Sand Soldiers would increase up to 16.
Once reaching 16, the Yellow Sand Soldiers would abandon the energy blocks and turn to attack the players, resulting in a total party wipe.
This mechanic was somewhat like the very ancient game—Snake.
The formation composed of the 7 [Yellow Sand Soldiers] was that snake, and the players had to compete with this snake for the energy blocks.
If it were an average five-man party, they would assign a high-movement-speed class, such as an assassin, to grab the energy blocks, while the others intercepted the boss and the three sand soldiers.
However, the boss had extremely high HP. If the player grabbing the energy blocks could not multitask by outputting damage to the boss's main body while grabbing the blocks, it would easily cause a wipe.
Suyu had it much easier. Now that he could cast three consecutive [Blink] spells, combined with movement speed gear all over his body, grabbing energy blocks was effortless, and he could continuously output damage to the boss's main body.
Under the bombardment of Suyu's high-damage spells, the boss's HP rapidly plummeted to 30%.
