24. Main storyline triggered: The Saintess of Oran City.

Su Yu shook his head and stepped forward to search Baron Wilson’s corpse.

Baron Wilson was a quest boss, so there was no concept of a “first kill.” He dropped only two items: the cloth armor boots [Full Moon Greaves Lv. 8 (Excellent)] and the skill scroll [Fireball (Common)].

Both items were usable by Su Yu.

He could learn [Fireball] immediately, while [Full Moon Greaves] could not be equipped until he reached Level 8.

After obtaining the skill scroll, Su Yu learned it at once, then spent 1,100 Psionic Coins to raise [Fireball] to Rare quality.

[Fireball (Rare)]: Launches a fireball at the target, dealing fire damage equal to 360% of spell power, with a 40% chance of inflicting [Burning]. Casting time: 0.5 seconds. Mana cost: 15.

[Burning]: Suffers 15 points of fire damage per second for 4 seconds.

In terms of single-target damage, [Fireball] was roughly comparable to [Lightning Bolt].

Against a high-health boss, however, [Fireball] could deal even greater damage if it triggered [Burning].

At present, though, Su Yu was killing everything in an instant, making [Lightning Bolt] somewhat more practical.

After learning [Fireball], Su Yu walked out of the baron’s study.

Tina was waiting anxiously outside the door.

When the sound of spells colliding inside the study ceased, she knew the battle had been decided.

Yet she did not dare go in to check. All she could do was stand outside, nervously twisting the hem of her clothes.

When she saw Nemesis emerge unharmed, Tina let out a long sigh of relief and patted her chest.

“What, you didn’t want me to survive?” Su Yu teased.

“All right.” Su Yu rubbed her head. “Go to the Warriors’ Guild and bring Quinn here. There’s a large amount of evidence of the baron’s crimes in the manor. Ask her to come and catalog it.”

“All right!” Tina replied excitedly.

Su Yu escorted Tina out of the baron’s manor.

He then returned to the study on the second floor and searched it thoroughly.

It was not long before he found two crucial pieces of evidence of the baron’s crimes.

Since Tina had not yet returned and he had nothing else to do, Su Yu ordered the manor’s guards and servants to locate all the wealth the baron had extorted during his lifetime, as well as all the women he had imprisoned illegally.

Unfortunately, the extorted wealth was classified as quest items, so Su Yu could not keep it for himself.

Half an hour later, Inspector Quinn finally arrived with members of the Warriors’ Guild.

In the study on the second floor, Quinn stared at Baron Wilson, whose entire body was charred and who had clearly been dead for some time. Her face was filled with disbelief.

“Adventurer, was it you who killed Baron Wilson?!”

Su Yu said nothing. He merely nodded calmly.

“Do you know what a grave crime it is to kill a noble?”

“Take a look at these first.” Su Yu handed Quinn the two pieces of evidence he had found in the study—a letter and the baron’s diary.

Quinn accepted them and read their contents carefully.

The letter had been written by the baron while corresponding with the rebels in the north. He had not had time to destroy it.

That letter alone was enough for the empire to convict Baron Wilson of treason. Even for a noble, treason was punishable by death.

Su Yu had not only committed no crime by killing Baron Wilson—he had rendered the empire a great service.

As for the baron’s diary…

It recorded countless schemes he had devised against Quinn. The depraved nature of the various things he intended to do was so shocking that even Su Yu, a man of considerable experience, found his eyes opened.

After reading the diary, Quinn’s face flushed with fury.

She drew her longsword, bent down, and stabbed the already-dead baron several more times. Only then did the hatred in her heart ease somewhat.

“Thank you very much for your help, Adventurer! Thank you for ridding the empire of this scum!” Quinn said solemnly to Su Yu.

Then she took out two gilded medals and held them out to him.

“These are your rewards. Please, you must accept them!”

Su Yu’s quest log changed.

“Ding! Your quest [Tina’s Struggle] has been completed!”

“Because you completed the quest beyond expectations, its rewards have been increased!”

“Quest rewards: [Medal of Honor (Excellent)] ×2, Experience ×1,000.”

[Medal of Honor (Excellent)]

Description: A reward bestowed by the major guilds upon those who have made outstanding contributions.

Usage: You may exchange this medal at the Mages’ Guild for an Excellent-quality skill scroll suited to your level and class.

Because Su Yu had skipped through and completed the entire quest chain, the rewards for Stages 6 through 19 no longer existed. However, the final reward, the [Medal of Honor], had increased from one medal to two.

After accepting the two [Medals of Honor], Su Yu smiled broadly at Quinn.

“Then I won’t disturb you any longer. I’ll be taking my leave.”

“Goodbye, Adventurer!” Quinn waved farewell.

Baron Wilson’s crimes had been confirmed, and Su Yu was no longer needed here. The Warriors’ Guild could handle the aftermath on its own.

But just as Su Yu turned around to leave, a clear voice sounded behind him.

“Nemesis, wait!”

The speaker was Tina.

“Tina, is there something else?” Su Yu turned back to look at the young woman.

“It’s like this…” Tina’s face reddened slightly as she walked up to Su Yu and spoke in a shy, quiet voice. “I’m going to the Warriors’ Guild later to have my talent tested. If I pass, I’ll travel to Oran City with Sister Quinn.”

“Oh? And then?”

“If you ever pass through Oran City, could you come and see me? I’ll be all alone in Oran City, with no relatives or friends. I’m a little frightened.”

As she spoke softly, Tina handed Su Yu the promissory note for the debt owed by the baron, offering it as a keepsake.

Only then did Su Yu realize that Tina still had a follow-up quest.

But he had no intention of accepting it.

The main storyline he was about to unlock was [The Glory of the Plantagenet Empire]. If his guess was correct, the quest location would certainly be the imperial capital of the Plantagenet Empire—Plantagenet City.
