Chapter 45: Not Going to Die (Please Vote for Recommendations)
Time seemed to freeze at the very moment of dawn.
When that majestic and merciless voice resounded across the firmament, people still lost in their dreams awoke with a start. Feeling the divine might condensing between heaven and earth, they felt terrified, helpless, and filled with panic.
Beneath the ancient golden tree, Mu En, the current master of the Sea God Pavilion, suddenly raised his head. Before his eyes, several withered yellow leaves were drifting down.
He said in astonishment, "The ancient golden tree is actually shedding leaves."
Deep within the Star Dou Great Forest, the Dragon King, who had slumbered for tens of thousands of years, abruptly opened its silver eyes. Ripples spread across the Lake of Life as six fierce beasts gathered quietly by the shore, waiting. A long time later, a voice echoed from beneath the lake.
"Go. Find Him."
Everyone realized one thing—after ten thousand years, the gods had descended once more.
And this time, He had descended with towering fury, declaring war upon another foreign deity!
At the center of the vortex above the ruins of Douling City, a point of light suddenly ignited, followed by an explosion of golden light. The dense, overcast clouds vanished into ash, and a massive golden trident plummeted from the sky, striking Lu Chun directly below!
This strike left no room for evasion, encompassing an area that covered the entire Douling City. Its might appeared sworn to obliterate this filthy land along with everything on it!
Even Xuanzi and the others, who had come under divine decree to resolve the crisis, were inescapable.
Xuanzi broke away from his martial soul avatar state, his wide eyes fixed on the rapidly approaching golden trident in the sky. Heavy breaths escaped his lips, and a intense sense of crisis made his heart race frantically.
There was no escaping! Absolutely no escaping!
Xuanzi was certain that even at his full strength, it would be difficult for him to dodge this attack. When this strike landed, all living things within this region would be annihilated; nothing could survive!
This was a god. This was the might of a deity.
Terrifying was the divine might! Awe-inspiring was the divine might!
In the eyes of the gods, they were no different from ants on the ground. Being killed was merely an accident that occurred when a foot landed, paying no heed to them whatsoever.
Yet... yet they had worshipped the gods for generations!
Something seemed to be shattering within Xuanzi's heart, but it no longer mattered, for the golden trident had already fallen!
A massive explosion radiated outward from the center. The kicked-up dust and sand blotted out the sun, and the earth-shaking shockwaves could be clearly felt even a thousand miles away.
"Run! Run outward! Run to open ground!"
Ning Yi shielded the Tulip of Floral Silk in his arms, roaring with a flushed face. Under his command, the coalition forces sprinted rapidly toward the periphery, closely pursued by the relentless dust storm and landslides.
Fortunately, Ning Yi had retreated fifty miles earlier; otherwise, they would have had no chance to escape and would have been annihilated alongside those ruins!
Straining every ounce of his soul power to run, Ning Yi looked back at the mushroom cloud in the distance that scorched the sky red, his eyes filled with terror.
"Is this divine punishment?"
Amidst his terror, he thought of that beautiful person—the one who called himself the God of Abundance—and could not help but pray silently in his heart.
I hope he is all right.
"Scoundrel! Tang San! What have you done?!"
At that very moment, another world-shaking roar resounded across heaven and earth. Boundless purple light descended, halting further disasters from erupting after the massive explosion.
Outside the realm, two figures surging with divine power stood facing each other on opposite sides.
The God of Destruction gazed at the spatial barrier of the Dou罗 plane, which had been pierced through by a giant hole, and at the various disasters triggered by Tang San's single strike. His expression was unimaginably grim.
Turning his gaze toward the expressionless Sea God Tang San on the other side, the God of Destruction spoke with a bone-chilling tone, roaring, "Tang San, as a Divine Realm Enforcer, do you not know that deities are forbidden from descending to the mortal realm without authorization, and must not unleash divine power against lower planes?"
"I know."
Faced with the questioning of the God of Destruction, Tang San remained expressionless, merely saying indifferently, "I am merely fulfilling the duties of a Divine Realm Enforcer to eradicate that evil foreign god."
"Evil? Foreign god?"
Hearing these two terms, the God of Destruction laughed out of extreme anger.
Was he talking about someone else, or was he talking about himself?
As for evil, the actions he had taken had kept a civilization stagnant for ten thousand years; as for being a foreign god, he himself was the outsider!
The God of Destruction sneered, "Eradicate a foreign god? I would love to know what you have eradicated."
"What?"
Tang San was stunned at these words, casting his gaze downward, and his vision instantly locked.
He saw that beneath his attack, the earth had lost all vitality. Rivers had run dry, scorching magma spewed from the depths of the ground, and the land had turned into scorched earth. Residual divine power was still raging, and it could be predicted that this land would remain uninhabitable for the next thousand years.
Yet, to everyone's utter shock, the center of the explosion was a patch of lush green, brimming with vitality.
Beneath an unimaginably massive tree canopy, countless snakes, insects, rats, and ants huddled together for warmth, leaning against one another.
Those Spirit Masters who had thought themselves dead also wore expressions of lingering fear and survival against the odds.
Xuanzi looked with complex emotions at the entity seated upon the treetop.
Just when he thought everything was coming to an end, this being had awakened, unleashing immense divine power to generate endless vegetation, gathering the surviving lives beneath its arms and sheltering them from the blow.
"Drip—"
Fresh, crimson blood splattered onto tender green leaves. Lu Chun, who had been reduced to a mere skeleton, grew new blood vessels and meridians. Flesh proliferated, and his newly born skin was as delicate and fair as ever.
Although those multiple arms and the crimson pupils covering his entire body were still somewhat startling, no one felt any more terror toward their savior.
Lowering his gaze to look at the safe and sound crowd below, Lu Chun let out a long breath of relief, then raised his head slightly. His gaze seemed to pierce through the sky, reaching beyond the spatial barrier of the plane and landing upon the Sea God.
He smiled faintly and said softly—
"Tang San, I want to live, and they want to live too, so we cannot die."
These words echoed in Tang San's ears. The emotion on his face stalled, and then fury ignited in his eyes as divine power surged once more.
He roared, "Evil god, meet your death!"
In response, dark clouds gathered once again within the world, lightning serpents condensing into an incandescent thunder dragon that plummeted with Tang San's wrath!
"Boom!"
Before everyone's eyes, Lu Chun did not dodge or evade, meeting the attack head-on. The lightning ground away every inch of his flesh, reducing his skeleton to powder!
Yet when the lightning vanished, an unscathed Lu Chun appeared once again.
Seeing this scene, Tang San's eyes split with rage as he roared, "This is impossible!"
How could this be possible? He was a God King; even launching an attack across the spatial barrier should not be something a mere entity below the divine realm could contend with, let alone emerge from completely unscathed.
Tang San was utterly baffled, but suddenly, he sensed something, and his expression instantly turned unimaginably grim.
The God of Destruction flashed to his side, his hands clamping tightly around Tang San's neck as he spoke with an icy tone, "Tang San, our dear Sea God, can you tell me what you have done to the plane will of Douluo Star?"
"Speak! What have you done?!"
"Crack!"
