Chapter 9: The Wind Whisperer, the Blue Weapon! (Thanks to Qianli Qingqiu, the Alliance Leader!)

“Whoosh~~~”
Ignoring everyone around me, I dashed straight out of the corridor during the precious 12 seconds of invisibility.
“033, stop!”
Two guards hurriedly raised their assault rifles, but they were a bit slow. I emptied a full magazine into their bodies, killing them instantly on the spot. As I slid past them, I executed a sliding tackle, scooping up several fully loaded magazines from their combat vests and stashing them into my dimensional storage space!
Ahead lay the tunnel!
I leapt forward, plunging into darkness. By now, the entire base’s power system had been paralyzed by a biological electromagnetic pulse; the elevator and tracks in the tunnel were useless. Behind me came the rapid staccato of gunfire—countless base guards using “tracing shots” to track my movements.
“Old Six, I’ve broken into the tunnel. How’s your side?”
“I just entered the tunnel too!”
Left Hand’s voice betrayed his excitement as he laughed heartily, “Bro, I’ve never played such a thrilling game before, this is awesome! Damn... I’m about to piss myself!”
“Could it be not a game?” I cautioned.
Left Hand fell silent, lost in thought.
...
At the tunnel’s end, beams of light appeared.
The cooldown for my biological optical invisibility skill had just ended after 60 seconds, so I took a deep breath and activated invisibility again, sprinting out of the tunnel!
As expected, dozens of armed guards stood outside, assault rifles aimed at the tunnel entrance. But my optical invisibility fully concealed me; their ambush was utterly futile.
After bursting out of the tunnel, I headed north without hesitation!
A wide river flowed next to the base. Upon opening the map, I saw a city several dozen miles away, adjacent to the Red Dragon Kingdom.
Stream City, a neutral city controlled by the Blazing Wind faction’s leader, Durin. It was said Durin commanded a legion of 3,000 Blazing Wind soldiers, equipped with over a thousand first-generation power suits and dozens of second-generation suits, ensuring the city’s neutrality in the wilderness. No one dared to provoke this local warlord lightly.
And Stream City was exactly my next planned destination!
“He’s there, chase him!”
Behind me, the base guards finally shouted in pursuit.
Soon, the sound of helicopters arrived—far enough from the EMP blast point that electronic devices remained functional.
Gazing at the roaring river before me, I plunged in without hesitation.
“Old Six!”
Surfacing, I glanced back towards the base and said, “I’m about to escape as planned. How’s your situation?”
“Same here!”
Left Hand laughed, “Already in position, leaving soon!”
“Position?”
I frowned, looking up to see a tiny figure atop the base’s towering signal tower. He spread his arms and dove, flying south like a swift!
A wingsuit!
“That wingsuit guy is you, right?” I asked with a smile.
“Ah…”
Left Hand chuckled, “You got me, bro!”
“You’re truly the Old Six!”
“Ha ha ha ha~~~”
Left Hand said, “Honestly, working with you has been a blast. Hope we get to team up again and conquer this Star Abyss world together!”
“You’re heading south, I’m heading north. Fate will decide. Take care!”
“Yeah, you too!”
Next moment, we disconnected from the star map in perfect sync, each going our own way.
...
In the cold river water, I retrieved an unmanned submersible and artificial gills from my dimensional storage. After equipping the gills, I dove deep underwater, clutching the submersible and heading north!
Above, helicopter sounds came closer, alongside the occasional bullet piercing the water’s surface.

Countless base guards were surely chasing me frantically, but the moment I submerged, their pursuit was doomed to fail.
Thus, relying on the submersible, I swam for about an hour in the icy water. When dawn began to break, my body was severely hypothermic—if I continued, I’d freeze to death.
By then, I was roughly fifteen kilometers from the base, safely away.
Shivering, I broke the water’s surface, retrieved the submersible and gills, then plunged into the still-dark forest.
Not far in, engine roars reached my ears.
Drones appeared overhead.
“Bang bang bang—”
On a military vehicle, several muzzles spat fire in the night, bullets flying. I was hit three times in rapid succession, my health dropping to around 80%!
At the same time, a distinct sound rang out!
“Bang!”
Before the sound arrived, a sharp pain erupted in my head!
“442!”
A huge damage number—bad news, a sniper!
His aim was precise; that shot was meant to be a headshot. Unlike players, I couldn’t be one-shot by a headshot, but head damage was still extremely high. Two more shots and I’d be done for!
Moreover, he managed to aim so well at night, clearly equipped with night vision gear.
Thinking quickly, I crouched behind a tree with a double trunk and activated a skill: biological electromagnetic pulse!
The one-hour cooldown was just right!
“Boom~~~”
With a thunderous roar, an electromagnetic storm erupted in the forest, disabling all electronic equipment within a kilometer radius!
Now the enemy lost night vision!
Gripping my Roarer, I charged forward. Four health bars appeared in the forest—level 15 base guards, likely patrolling, crossing paths with me here.
“Bang bang bang...”
A burst of shots took down one guard.
I quickly relocated, firing again to kill the second.
“033, take him down!”
The remaining two panicked, their shouts more self-reassuring than threatening.
Bullets zipped through the night, splintering wood continuously.
I had to admit, the base guards’ shooting was unimpressive—they fired tracing shots, but were mostly inaccurate. Had their aim been better, I might not have survived.
But the sniper hidden in darkness was still my greatest threat!
“Bang bang bang...”
Another volley of bullets hit with deadly accuracy—third guard down.
I quickly retreated behind a tree; at the instant I ducked, “crack!”—a small tree near my previous position was shot in half!
He was still aiming at me.
'Damn...'
I frowned, seeing my health dip below 50%. It hurt; I had no healing items left—not even bandages, let alone medkits.
No choice—optical invisibility it was!
The earlier electromagnetic pulse had destroyed the enemy’s thermal imaging gear, so the sniper couldn’t detect me while I was invisible. He had no other means.
“Hisssss~~~”
The energy in my skin cells awakened, quickly cloaking me in darkness.
Without hesitation, I burst forth, firing over ten rounds, taking down the fourth guard. Then I dashed straight toward the sniper’s hiding spot!
In the forest, footsteps could be heard but no figure appeared.

The enemy was clearly desperate!
“Bang!”
A muzzle flash—he fired an empty shot at my estimated location, but not only did he fail to find me, he revealed his own position.
“Whoosh!”
Raising my green-quality Vanguard Hornet sword, I lunged into the roots where he hid, slashing fiercely across his throat. The sniper dropped his rifle, clutching his throat with his left hand and frantically drawing a pistol with his right.
But before he could aim, I kicked the pistol away and unleashed a storm of level 10 basic sword techniques, slicing through flesh as his health bar plummeted!
This level 15 elite NPC’s 1,500 health points vanished in moments. Cornered, he had no chance to resist, clutching his bleeding throat with a face full of reluctance before collapsing.
“Phew...”
I frowned and swiftly stripped all his gear.
His pistol was a green 99R—decent but not powerful enough.
When I picked up his sniper rifle, my eyes lit up!
[Wind Whisperer-11 Improved] (Quality: Blue)
Rank: Tier 1
Base Stats: Firepower 320-400, Fire Rate 50 rounds/min, Magazine 5 rounds, Range 2500 meters
Agility: +15
Weight: 11 KG
Blessing: Explosive Strike—25% chance to deal an extra 50% explosive damage when hitting the head
Strength Requirement: 40
...
Nice!
I felt a thrill—no wonder he took over 400 health points with one shot. This high-powered blue sniper rifle also boosted agility by 15 points, a crucial attribute for sword-based superweapons!
The weapon’s strength requirement was high—40 points—beyond most players. But I, possessing the SS-rank Primordial Furnace, had no problem meeting it!
My Primordial Furnace had reached level 4 through continuous kills, granting me 55 strength in total—more than enough to wield the Wind Whisperer!
Equipping it!
In the distance, faint vehicle lights flickered, and base guards approached.
I frowned—there was no time to loot the guards’ gear now, and my dimensional storage was nearly full. I plunged into the forest, heading straight for Stream City!
...
At the southern outskirts of Stream City, beside a dilapidated drainage ditch, I appeared exhausted and approached a man grinning with golden teeth.
This was Liu Jinya, an NPC who had “sneaked” into Stream City during beta testing. He was a man of connections—if you offered him something, he could not only get you into Stream City but also arrange a resident ID card.
“Brother, you look a bit unfamiliar,” he said with a wide grin.
“Brother Ya, I come recommended,” I replied with an awkward smile. “I’m a wanderer from the wilderness, looking to settle in Stream City. I hope you can help. You know the rules, brother.”
I pulled out a green 99R pistol from my waist and handed it over. “A small token, don’t despise it, Brother Ya!”
“Oh wow~~~”
Liu Jinya’s eyes lit up instantly. “Hard goods, brother, you really got skills!”
He stood slowly, casting a knowing glance. “We’re brothers here, no need for formalities. Come with me~~~”
