Chapter 31: The Genesis of Jason and Tommy the War God
Louis swallowed hard, a sense of retreat budding in his heart.
Who exactly was Jason?
At the very beginning, he was merely an undead creature resurrected in Crystal Lake by his mother using the Necronomicon. Later, he gradually began to reveal his grotesque nature, developing a penchant for hunting the living. He could be resurrected indefinitely and possessed extreme immortality. Yet, in the beginning, he was not truly powerful; he was no different from an ordinary person and could easily be stabbed to death.
However, as time passed, each time Jason was killed and resurrected, his strength grew. Even being stabbed with a blade could no longer kill him, and eventually, he became impervious to blades and bullets.
In his later stages, Jason could possess bodies through his soul after death, return from hell even with only his heart remaining, and was completely invulnerable to weapons, possessed infinite strength, and could withstand both fire and water.
In short, this was a terrifying monster that was powerful on a physical level.
Judging by the sheriff's earlier words, Jason had likely entered the town this time.
There were many Jason films, and there were even remakes later on. Louis couldn't recall many of the details, but he remembered that in the fourth installment, Jason had arrived in town, only to be solo-killed by a young boy. Later, he was killed by this same boy several times. The boy's name was... Tommy, was it?
Although this was reality now and the content of horror movies might not align perfectly, Louis, having no other sources of intelligence, decided to use the fourth film as his baseline.
At this stage, Jason was not yet overwhelmingly powerful, but he was already capable of shrugging off ordinary sharp weapons, and his strength had increased significantly. It was his first qualitative transformation.
Given his current strength, Louis knew he could not contend with him. The safest choice was to stay as far away as possible.
Crystal Lake... Crystal Town...
Determine the orientation, and then start running.
These thoughts raced through Louis's mind. In reality, Louis had already boarded the car with David and the others, heading toward the school.
Upon returning to the school, Louis quickly leveraged his status as a child to obtain a map from the principal, along with some past rumors.
According to the principal, an incident had occurred at Crystal Lake a long time ago, back in the seventies. Several people died, but the murderer was also killed.
Not many years later, murders began occurring again. This time, more people died, and according to the survivors, the killer was the same as the one from before.
The third time, just a few years ago, a major homicide occurred at Crystal Lake again. This time, the police clearly identified the perpetrator's appearance, confirming the survivor's claim: it was indeed Jason.
From that point on, Jason's name began to circulate in the vicinity.
Nowadays, whenever a murder case arises, the first thing the sheriffs think of is whether Jason has appeared again. This was the reason why, back at the campsite, the sheriff had been so nervous when the woman was killed by a steel pipe, even demanding that everyone cooperate with the investigation.
Louis was lost in thought. It seemed that, just as he had surmised, Jason’s strength was increasing incrementally. He hadn't defied the established rules or caused unexpected chaos in this world where anything could happen, which was, at least, a piece of good news.
After thanking the principal, Louis carefully examined the regional map that included the surrounding terrain.
Finally, in the north of Clanna Town, near the border where Mississippi, Florida, and Georgia met, he spotted the locations of Crystal Lake Camp and Crystal Town.
"Now, abandon all fantasies and start running."
Although Jason was not at his full potential—merely at his first qualitative leap—Louis was still just a little brat!
Running was the best choice.
Without a moment's hesitation, Louis sought out David.
He found David looking even more dejected than before, his eyes vacant, as if his spirit had suffered a heavy blow. Nearby, Emma was giggling secretly, while Angela was helplessly comforting her brother.
Louis approached Emma.
"!!!"
Emma was startled and rolled her eyes at Louis. "What?"
Heh, this girl wasn't afraid of him anymore?
Louis asked, "What's wrong with Uncle David?"
"Oh, him? He just got rejected by Jenny. She said he lived too far away, and that Yulonka didn't really like him, so they weren't a good match. She just left after saying that."
Louis nodded. It seemed Yulonka hadn't dared to break her promise. Well, at the end of the day, she was just a child. Even Emma, a natural-born evil child, knew fear and dared not act recklessly. What did that make a child like her, who was "corrupted" later?
But still...
Oh, poor David. First, his adopted daughter Esther died, only for him to find out she was a homicidal dwarf, and before he could even recover, he got dumped by his date.
What kind of emotional journey was this?
Sadness—terror, anger, and lingering fear—depression.
However, this was actually a good thing!
"David! I'm doing this for your own good!" Louis thought.
Shaking his head, Louis stepped forward to interrupt David, who was busy wallowing in his emotions.
"Uncle David, we should leave immediately. This place is not good at all."
David was stunned and nodded slowly. Louis was right; this place was no good. Out of sight, out of mind—it was better to leave as soon as possible.
Angela breathed a sigh of relief and gave Louis an appreciative look.
Within half an hour, everyone had packed their things and boarded the car.
Because Jason had appeared in Crystal Town, the sheriff had taken his men to provide support, so there was no one left to restrict them.
David drove the car away smoothly, speeding toward the border.
Meanwhile, in Crystal Town.
In a secluded house by Crystal Lake, a bald boy was playing a game of wits with Jason. As dusk fell and the police closed in, the boy had already successfully subdued Jason using various traps. However, the boy had already descended into madness; wielding a weapon, he frantically hacked at Jason's corpse with a chainsaw.
When the police broke down the door, they were greeted by the sight of the bloodthirsty, bald boy turning his head to look at them. Beneath him, Jason’s corpse was beyond recognition.
The boy's mother rushed over, her eyes filled with tears.
"Oh my God!"
After a flurry of chaos, the boy was placed in a police car. Someone asked him his name.
He replied blankly, "Tommy."
...
On the other side.
The David family, who had been driving through the night, checked into a motel because it was late.
Fortunately, nothing strange happened overnight, which was a relief to Louis, who had been through back-to-back encounters with *Dead Silence* and Jason.
By the afternoon of the next day, they had returned home.
However, the moment they arrived, Louis's pupils contracted. He immediately turned away and hid himself.
Emma didn't understand why, but she covered for him anyway.
Soon, their belongings were mostly moved back into the house. Louis finally poked his head out, watching from afar as the figure walked further and further away.
"Who was that?" Emma asked from beside him.
Louis shook his head without answering.
Emma didn't know, and truthfully, Louis didn't know who the man was either, but he recognized the tattoo on the man’s body.
A red venomous scorpion.
That was the family crest of the Kano family.
