14: Pureblood Descendant!
Silver light intertwined for a moment, then slowly returned to the wand. Only a faint silver gleam flickered continuously before gradually fading away.
“I never imagined it would truly wait for its master. By Merlin, I am evidently witnessing the beginning of history. You are destined for glorious achievements that will be recorded in the annals,” Ollivander said, his cloudy eyes fixed on Ian. His bent frame seemed even more stooped than before, as if slightly bowing.
“Is this the Elder Wand?” Ian looked down at the wand, feeling as if it resonated with his very soul. Whether this was a unique trait of the Elder Wand, he sensed his magical power unusually vibrant and surging.
“Elder wood is the rarest wand wood, the hardest to master among all. Few choose to craft wands from it because it only selects masters of extraordinary destiny.”
“Every bearer of an Elder Wand inevitably stands out in the tide of history… so you are sure to become an unparalleled figure in the future,” Ollivander said with genuine delight.
Perhaps it was the perfect bond between Ian and this wand that proved his earlier efforts were not in vain. This was a wand that could be wielded properly and harmonized profoundly with its wizard.
“Thank you for your blessing. I hope to accomplish great things as I grow,” Ian said, very satisfied with his wand, holding it as if it were a treasure.
“This is not just a blessing, Mr. Prince. It is the destiny revealed by the wand. When I made it, I chose a unicorn tail hair for its core,” Ollivander continued, his eyes burning with a youthful vigor rarely seen in someone his age.
“This combination defies convention, completely breaking the rules of wandmaking.” Though advanced in years, Ollivander’s gaze at Ian was intensely passionate—filled with an energy only the young might possess.
Ian was puzzled, unable to describe Ollivander’s unusual state.
“Hm?” Ian tilted his head.
Ollivander smiled warmly. “You may not yet understand the qualities this wand holds. It will guide you toward the future it reveals…” Perhaps Ollivander’s insight rivaled even Dumbledore’s in the art of riddles.
“I cannot foresee the shifting future for you, but you will certainly overturn and change many things.” His eyes returned to the wand in Ian’s hand.
“Well, the thing I want to overturn most right now is the exorbitant price of wands. Considering it has gathered dust for so long, sir, could you give me a little discount?” Ian blinked and began bargaining with innocent candor.
He expected Ollivander to praise and marvel again, and with his practiced bargaining skills, he thought he could secure a fair price.
However—
“Seven Galleons. That’s the rule,” Ollivander said firmly.
Business is business.
When it came to price, Ollivander’s previous humble demeanor vanished instantly.
“Could you take off just one Galleon?” Ian pleaded.
“If you truly become a great figure in the future, I will appoint you as the head of Hogwarts’ Wand Protection Society, so you can collect an annual wand usage tax from all Hogwarts students,” Ian said with the most innocent expression, painting a shamelessly grand prospect.
“...” Even the well-traveled Ollivander was left speechless.
“Seven Galleons. It’s the Ministry’s regulation,” Ollivander said helplessly, rejecting Ian’s extravagant offer.
“The Ministry has such a rule?” Ian doubted Ollivander was serious, just like the so-called guidance of destiny.
Not even one Galleon to spare.
And yet you say I will become an unparalleled figure?
“Yes, indeed. Actually, this is already a discounted price for young witches and wizards. If you want a second wand, even Dumbledore himself would have to pay twenty Galleons,” Ollivander made it clear he recognized money, not people.
“What if Dumbledore promised you an annual tax on wand usage?” Ian asked curiously, his mind spinning with new ideas.
“Well...” Ollivander actually seemed tempted, pondering the offer.
Alright! Now I get it!
No matter how destined, it all comes down to power and money!
Ian sneered inwardly and resigned himself to paying. Snape had given him exactly seven Galleons; he couldn’t spare even a Knut.
“Wishing you a pleasant academic journey.” Ollivander smiled again as he accepted the money, bowing slightly to see Ian out of his small shop.
*Ding-dong~*
As Ian opened the door to leave, a little girl and her guardian were about to enter.
“Move aside, boy,” an elderly woman with a noble air said, wearing a crooked hat and a thin veil over her face. She stood outside, commanding Ian with a haughty tone.
Not wanting trouble, Ian quickly stepped aside.
He also let go of the door handle.
The woman had to push the door open again, entering with the platinum-haired girl beside her. She didn’t spare Ian even a glance.
However, the little girl stared at Ian for a long time. Whether disapproving of Ian’s earlier gesture or not, her true thoughts remained inscrutable at first glance.
“Just like Professor Snape’s deadpan expression—mother and daughter must be a perfect match for that old bat,” Ian thought sourly, his gaze lingering briefly on the girl’s delicate face.
A tall, defined nose bridge.
Prominent cheekbones.
Thin yet perfectly symmetrical lips.
Even among the many handsome and beautiful Germanic folk, this girl’s appearance was exceptionally striking. But what caught Ian’s attention more was her eyes—each a different color: one blue, one white—a rare case of heterochromia more remarkable than mere beauty.
“A pure-blood noble, huh...” Ian didn’t linger further.
After they entered, he glanced at them with mild curiosity before stepping outside and closing the door behind him.
As the door clicked shut, voices inside were clearly audible.
“Lady Rozier, long time no see. I didn’t expect you’d come to London.”
“And you’ve brought a young witch… Let me see—by Merlin, she is… Yes, yes, I must not bring unnecessary trouble to you.”
“I never imagined this family still had descendants, and that they inherited such extraordinary talent. I believe she is destined for unparalleled glory.”
The tone and voice were unmistakably familiar.
Good heavens!
Praise for everyone who shows up!
Everyone is extraordinary and destined for brilliance?
The wizarding world’s Celia was now absolutely confirmed!
