Chapter Eleven: I’m a Double Fan
You want to argue, right? Fine, I’ll join in, won’t I?
"Wait, aren't you a fan of Clearlove? How did you become a fan of Uzi?" Tian Ye asked, not forgetting to pose a soul-searching question while climbing the ladder. He had no idea of the gravity of the situation at that moment.
Lin Ruo was bursting with a sense of justice. "Clearlove and Uzi are both the souls of the LPL. Why can’t we like both? Why must we fight to the death?"
Do you even understand the value of being a dual-fan?
"I suggest everyone become a dual-fan with me. That way, if Clearlove wins, I’m happy; if Uzi wins, I’m happy. Double the joy, no need to worry about conflicts. This way, everyone is happy."
This statement immediately silenced both the haters and the die-hard fans. At a glance, it sounded somewhat reasonable. But think about it for a second—there wasn't a shred of logic in it. It just made him a spineless fence-sitter.
[Streamer, you really are a piece of work.]
"Clarification: I am not a streamer; I am a professional player," Lin Ruo said, blowing a strand of hair from his forehead with a righteous expression.
Beside him, Fireloli, who had just returned from the bathroom, silently scooted his chair away, fearing he might be caught in the crossfire.
"You ask why I’m playing Sejuani, a bottom-tier champion?"
"I don't know. I just heard that a level-two gank bot lane with Sejuani is effective."
The chat didn't react much. At this time, the meme of a "level-two gank bot" hadn't started circulating yet. Sejuani was indeed a bottom-tier champion in this era; it wasn't until the mid-season update of Season 7, when her hide got tougher, that she would ascend to become a jack-of-all-trades in professional play—a signature champion for Clearlove.
In the RNG esports club training room, Shi Senming, having just finished his meal and looking to take a break, felt bored and opened the Zhanqi stream to watch his friend’s broadcast. He didn't know until he looked—and he was shocked. He knew Lin Ruo liked making absurd remarks and acting eccentric, but he didn't expect him to reach this level of absurdity today. He even became a dual-fan. In the LPL, who didn't know that "The Pig" (Clearlove) and "The Dog" (Uzi) could never reconcile?
"This is hilarious," Shi Senming laughed.
"What is it? What’s so funny?" Uzi glanced over. Although he was streaming, he had chosen to turn off the chat to focus on his climb, so he had no idea about the farce that had occurred in just a few minutes.
Shi Senming’s smile froze. He rubbed his nose and said, "Nothing. The enemy jungler is Lin Ruo. He’s pretty excited to run into you."
Uzi said "Oh," and revealed a simple smile again. "Alright then, I’ll go easy on him and save him some face."
After hearing that Lin Ruo was his loyal fan, he had a decent impression of the kid. They hadn't had much interaction before, and any conflict between Lin Ruo and RNG had nothing to do with him.
Uzi was playing Ashe. As soon as he entered the game, he bought a Doran’s Blade and a health potion, immediately heading to the lane from the red side without any level-one team fights. While waiting for the minion wave, Uzi finally glanced at the chat. He saw a bunch of messages about "level-two gank bot." What? The enemy Sejuani was going to gank bot at level two? That’s a joke. Sejuani takes massive damage from clearing camps early; why would she gank at level two?
Fearing that haters would claim he was stream-sniping, Uzi closed the chat after only a moment and refocused on the game. Just then, he saw someone typing in the public chat—it was the enemy Sejuani.
[Uzi, I’m your fan.]
Has the new EDG AD grown to worship me this much?
Accustomed to being flattered, Uzi couldn't help but feel a bit smug and in high spirits. With Lin Ruo’s prompting, the other eight players now knew the Ashe was Uzi. The public chat suddenly became active.
[Uzi, I’m your fan too.]
[Uzi, please add me as a friend after the game.]
[Support Uzi! Uzi is the undisputed number one AD in the world.]
Wait, Uzi’s expression shifted. Why does it seem like there are some haters… With his guard fully up, he decisively muted the enemy top lane Trundle.
"Damn, this Trundle is disgusting. Definitely a Uzi hater."
In the EDG training room, Lin Ruo followed suit, joining the haters in relentlessly roasting the Trundle. He immediately clarified, "Of course, RNG fans, don't misunderstand. I’m not saying Uzi doesn't deserve to be the world’s best AD. Given time, I believe Uzi will definitely achieve it."
[This is so disgusting.]
[Uzi has conquered everyone with his play, but he just can't conquer the mouths of these trolls.]
The trolls in the chat didn't catch the underlying sarcasm. Many GSL (Uzi’s fans) had already gone off to look up the Trundle’s identity, with "bombing squads" standing by. But after a long search, the Trundle was just a random player—not a streamer, not even a trainee. The GSLs, primed for battle, had nowhere to vent their energy.
At 1:30, the minions arrived on time. Lin Ruo, having finished his jungle item, deliberately revealed himself in the top river for a second, then snuck around to start his red buff. Without a word, the top lane Trundle understood, lingering at the blue buff for a moment before heading to lane to create the illusion that the jungler started top.
Lin Ruo pinged, signaling the bottom lane Varus and Leona to head to lane normally, while he soloed the red buff as Sejuani. Before her buffs, Sejuani’s early clear was indeed painful, so Lin Ruo decisively used Smite to reach level two. Then, he kept an eye on the bottom lane.
Uzi was playing extremely aggressively at level one, coordinating with his Tahm Kench support to harass. The bot lane couldn't hold up at all. After a trade, the random Varus had lost nearly half his health. But this was exactly what Lin Ruo had anticipated. Uzi was overextended, even crossing the minion wave to auto-attack.
In the RNG training room, Shi Senming, who was choosing his champion, was startled by a sudden roar.
"Go, go, go! Tahm, don't be afraid, I’m here!"
"Yes, yes, yes, play like that! Don't let them have a single minion!"
Uzi was nearly frantic; the trade had him feeling ecstatic. The blue side Varus struggled for a long time just to manage one minion.
"The enemy bot lane is already blown up. This game is in the bag, boys." In high spirits, Uzi opened the chat, ready to enjoy the praise from the netizens. However, when he saw the chat, it was filled with phrases like "The pig is coming, run!"
Startled, Uzi instinctively looked toward the river. He saw that pig, stomping on its four hooves, walking brazenly along the river wall. Because he had pushed so deep, there was no need for any stealth. The next moment, the pig shook its body and dashed forward with a Q-Flash, giving Uzi absolutely no time to react. Leona followed up instantly, landing an E-Flash for the lock-down.
It was a full-service gank, leaving zero chance of survival. The puppy had been engaged. The puppy had fallen.
Lin Ruo easily secured the first blood on a god. The temperature in the RNG training room rose a few degrees.
"No way, is this Sejuani even human? He’s ignoring his jungle just to camp me?"
Realizing the Sejuani was his fan, Uzi bit his tongue and stopped. "Alright, I’m going to start playing seriously now. I won't give him another chance."
Uzi prepared to close the chat again, ready to give his all. However, one final message floated by that broke his composure:
[Why are you acting so cocky? You gave him way too many chances.]
