The assessment was over.

Shita Genichi secured first place, and his reputation spread outward once again. Previously, he was considered a prodigy, but in reality, not many people knew about it.

Now, however, things were different.

After going through a round of Chūnin exams, if one performed brilliantly enough, their name would quickly spread throughout the entire community of Konoha shinobi. In the past, Shita Genichi had to pretend to be a prodigy; now, even if he claimed he was not one, no one would believe otherwise.

Emerging from the testing venue, Shita Genichi and the others saw Hatake Sakumo waiting under a tree and immediately walked up to him.

"You all performed very well."

Sakumo smiled and expressed his approval to Genichi and the others, but his tone quickly shifted: "However, you still have a long way to go, and you must not grow arrogant."

Genichi and his teammates naturally nodded in agreement.

Sakumo then looked toward the jōnin leader of Kakashi's team: "Yomaki, although the results won't be announced until tomorrow, it's still early. Why don't we go celebrate?"

The results would be officially released tomorrow, but Genichi and Kakashi were guaranteed to pass.

Memura Yomaki nodded upon hearing this: "Kakashi and Genichi are certainly without a problem. Let's celebrate together then!"

Sakumo smiled. "Let's go, barbecue is on me!"

Genichi and the others immediately cheered and expressed their gratitude, then crowded around the two jōnin leaders as they headed toward the barbecue restaurant.

Speaking of Kakashi's jōnin leader, Shita Genichi remembered him.

He was the commander of the Konoha border defense force during the Third Great Ninja War, who had been ambushed by Iwa shinobi and nearly wiped out before being rescued at the last minute by Namikaze Minato.

That was also one of the battles that paved the way for Minato to become the Fourth Hokage.

That did not mean Yomaki Memura was weak, however.

One could not possibly be weak to become the commander of a border defense force. Furthermore, there were no weaklings among Konoha's jōnin.

It was just that Genichi wasn't quite sure what this particular jōnin specialized in.

Arriving at the barbecue restaurant.

While waiting for the meat to be served, Genichi had a thought and asked, "Sakumo-sensei, is it possible to take a leave of absence to travel and train outside the village?"

This question stunned everyone present.

Sakumo looked at his exceptional disciple: "You want to travel and train outside the village?"

Genichi nodded. "Yes, sensei, I've been considering it."

"I want to develop a series of genjutsu similar to the Demonic Illusion: Mirage, such as depriving the target of their hearing, sense of smell..."

"Also, I'd like to go out and look for a suitable summoning beast."

Yamanaka En couldn't help letting out a wry smile upon hearing this: "Genichi, aren't you rushing things a bit?"

"If you keep this up, it makes the rest of us look completely useless."

Uchiha Nami even nodded in agreement at this point.

Genichi quickly explained, "I don't mean right away."

"I'm just preparing in advance."

His desire to leave Konoha alone wasn't solely based on the reasons mentioned above.

There were other factors as well.

For instance, trying to capture the Zero-Tails.

Or seeing if he could snatch the Samehada from Kirigakure.

As for waiting for an opportunity during the Third Great Ninja War?

In a war of that scale, even as a jōnin, Genichi would have to follow orders and wouldn't have the freedom to wander around on his own.

Where he went to complete missions would not be up to him.

"There's no problem with traveling and training outside the village,"

Sakumo gave an affirmative answer, then added, "However, Genichi, you are still too young, and leaving the village alone is too dangerous."

Genichi's strength wasn't bad by any means.

But what did that amount to in the grand scheme of the ninja world?

He was merely a Chūnin.

Encountering a jōnin would likely spell his end.

Especially now that Genichi had gained fame, the danger of leaving the village alone would increase exponentially.

One shouldn't assume that other villages wouldn't target and hunt down enemy prodigies.

Genichi obediently nodded.

Of course he wasn't planning on leaving the village right now.

He wasn't conceited to that extent.

The grilled meat was soon served, and everyone began chatting animatedly while devouring their food in high spirits.

After finishing the meal, Yomaki Memura suggested treating everyone to the hot springs, so the two squads went and soaked in the hot springs for half an hour.

The bond between the two teams grew even closer as a result.

After coming out of the hot spring bath, everyone dispersed in their respective directions.
Rather than going straight home, Genichi strolled thoughtfully toward the Konoha Hospital.

As expected, Shizune was busy there assisting Tsunade.

Apart from Shizune, Genichi also spotted a familiar figure.

Nohara Rin.

"Genichi-kun!"

Rin was the first to notice Genichi standing at the entrance.

Hearing the voice, Shizune quickly turned her head, a broad smile on her face: "Genichi, is the assessment over?"

"You definitely passed without a doubt!"

Rin also looked at Genichi with hopeful eyes; she wanted to know how Kakashi had fared, though she had complete confidence that he would pass.

Stepping inside, Genichi smiled and said, "Of course there's no problem."

"Kakashi and I both passed the assessment for sure."

Rin's face blossomed into a smile: "Awesome!"

"Just average, just average!"

Genichi feigned a hint of cockiness.

Shizune couldn't help laughing, knowing that Genichi was just putting on an act.

At that moment, Tsunade turned around: "You two, focus! And you, brat, if you've got too much time on your hands, get lost."

Shizune and Rin nodded hastily and quickly went back to work.

Genichi paid no mind to Tsunade's scolding. He walked up to her, catching the faint scent in the air, and asked, "Is there anything I can help with?"

Tsunade didn't stand on ceremony: "I'm planning to try organ transplantation on white mice. You can assist me."

Genichi's eyes lit up, and he nodded. "No problem."

With that, he went to fetch a white lab coat, a cap, and a mask, put them on, and began assisting Tsunade.

The next day.

The list of those who passed the Chūnin assessment was released, and as expected, Genichi and Kakashi's names were on it.

However, Genichi didn't even bother to check the results, continuing instead to assist Tsunade until he was finally tracked down by Yamanaka En two days later.

It was time to execute missions!

"What a life of toil!"

"I'm only seven years old—child labor, this is going way too far."

Genichi much preferred spending his time at the Konoha Hospital or training at home.

All that fighting and killing wasn't really his cup of tea.

Growing stronger and acquiring knowledge brought him far more pleasure than killing people and completing missions.

Arriving at the village gates, Hatake Sakumo and the others were already waiting there.

Genichi stepped forward to apologize and greet them, and together they set off outside the village.

"Genichi, now that you've become a Chūnin, you're entitled to claim a C-rank ninjutsu from the village. Remember to go pick it up once we return from this mission."

Genichi obediently nodded.

A C-rank ninjutsu corresponded to the difficulty level of a Chūnin.

Actually, it wasn't bad at all.

Yamanaka En asked curiously, "Genichi, what kind of ninjutsu are you planning to choose?"
"Water Release?"

Genichi shook his head. "I already have enough Water Release ninjutsu."

Yamanaka En suggested, "Perhaps you could try a sensory ninjutsu."

"With your high talent for genjutsu, learning a sensory ninjutsu shouldn't be a problem either."

Sensory ninjutsu?

Genichi considered the idea seriously.

If he were staying within his squad, he wouldn't need sensory ninjutsu, since Yamanaka En was already a sensory ninja.

However, if he were traveling alone out in the world, the more well-rounded his skill set, the better.

Still, were there any sensory ninjutsu at the C-rank level?

And more importantly, was it necessary to divide his focus on sensory ninjutsu right now?
