Chapter 13: Overdrawing the Future Once Again! (Please Continue Reading)
“I must build a library someday!”
After leaving the bookstore, Genichi Shizuna couldn’t help but grit his teeth under the tree.
He had been deeply troubled in his quest to learn medical ninjutsu and human anatomy.
Although he had obtained quite a bit of material from Shizune, he knew he couldn’t rely solely on copying books.
But Konoha had no library; he had to buy the books himself.
Moreover, some of these books were not easy to find.
The specialized ones were outrageously expensive, and his pocket money was nowhere near enough. He even had to borrow some from Shizune.
“In the future, I hope my efforts won’t be in vain.”
Back home, Genichi clutched his books and continued his diligent note-taking.
Having spent so much money, he couldn’t afford to waste it.
It was spring break now, so no school.
The new school year would start in April.
And there were still five days left before he would overdraw his future once again.
By noon, he heard his mother’s voice and rubbed his dry eyes, looking up.
“I never studied this seriously in my previous life, but convincing someone to study medicine really feels like a curse.”
After stretching his stiff body, Genichi went downstairs to eat lunch.
After the meal, he returned to his room to resume studying.
This time, however, he wasn’t absorbing medical knowledge but delving into the even more arcane art of sealing techniques.
The last time he met Jiraiya at Minato Namikaze’s home, although the latter refused to take him as a disciple, he promised to teach Genichi sealing techniques.
Not only that, Kushina Uzumaki generously offered that Genichi could consult her anytime.
Thus, Genichi successfully gathered a great deal of information on sealing jutsu.
Of course, as of now, the only sealing technique he had learned from Jiraiya was the “Evil-Sealing Method.”
All these gains could be credited to the copyright of the Rasengan.
Naturally, to reciprocate, Genichi planned to present his concept for a Wind Release Rasengan Shuriken after some time.
Though he himself did not practice ninjutsu, there was no harm in designing new techniques.
Jiraiya was an ideal candidate since he mastered sage techniques; even if the Wind Release Rasengan Shuriken was imperfect, he could still throw it.
For Genichi, exchanging ninjutsu he couldn’t use for other valuable skills was completely worthwhile.
Besides, just because he gave the idea away didn’t mean he’d be unable to use it later once he had the ability.
After lunch, Genichi strolled out the door.
Once he digested his meal, he headed to his usual training spot.
Soon, a familiar voice rang out.
It was Might Guy.
Genichi smiled faintly and continued his training, repeatedly drawing his sword.
The closer the time came to overdrawing his future, the harder Genichi pushed himself.
He resembled a last-minute crammer before an exam.
Time quickly passed until it was March 18, Year 42 of Konoha.
In Genichi’s mind, the gray “Overdraw Future by Ten Years” indicator on his panel suddenly lit up.
Lying on his bed, he took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
“Future, I hope you won’t disappoint the efforts I’ve made this past year.”
Overdraw Future by Ten Years!
As the panel exploded into a swirling purple light, Genichi’s mind went blank, but every cell in his body quivered as if electrified.
After a moment, his eyelids twitched, and he opened his eyes.
“It’s not really ten years…”
Last time he overdrew ten years, it was actually only six.
Now it was eight.
That meant until Konoha’s Year 50.
Genichi could not tell whether his future self would die in the Third Great Ninja War or perish during the Nine-Tails’ Rampage.
Of course, it was also possible he would fall during his collaboration with Orochimaru.
Because part of the gains from this ten-year overdraw clearly came from Orochimaru.
“I’ve worked so hard and even cheated, yet I still died and didn’t live to see ten years.”
His expression darkened.
This only underscored how perilous the life of a ninja truly was.
