Chapter 13: She Must Be Terrified
Yu Yan pressed her lips together and smiled, “Because the light energy inside Duoduo is exactly the opposite of the dark energy.”
“The two are like natural enemies, so whenever Duoduo touches the energy inside, she feels uncomfortable all over.”
Yun Duoduo was confused, half understanding, half not. But it didn’t matter—after all, her mother understood everything, and it was perfectly fine if she didn’t. Whenever she had questions, she could simply ask her mother; after all, her mother would never leave her. Her mother had said more than once that she was her greatest concern in this life.
If she lost her, most of her life would go with her.
Without her life, how could anything still be good?
The little clever Yun Duoduo stuck out her tongue, “Mom, let’s go to the next nest. There’s nothing left here.”
Yu Yan readily agreed.
After searching through the entire area of gu eagle nests, they had gathered countless feathers ranging from grade four to grade seven, thousands of plumes. There were also over a thousand pieces of unknown dark-type ore that seemed quite rare.
Only nests of grade six and above would produce these ores.
Not only that, the first grade six gu eagle nest they searched had already yielded a rich harvest.
Other grade six nests, finding one or two pieces in a nest was already considered a stroke of luck. In one nest, astonishingly, there was only a single piece of ore left, half eaten. Yu Yan didn’t mind; by her estimation, the ore was at least a grade five material.
Grade five materials were already excellent spiritual resources.
It was also worth mentioning that besides these, Yu Yan had found over thirty gu eagle eggs.
Out of thousands of gu eagle nests, to find only thirty eggs—Yu Yan could only sigh at the egg yield.
After sweeping the nests clean, Yu Yan turned her gaze toward the entrance to the passage.
Beneath the pile of rubble there, thousands of gu eagle corpses were buried.
Although the meat of the gu eagle wasn’t delicious, it made excellent nourishment for her Plant Spirit Small World. For the past two days, Yu Yan had tossed high-grade materials into her small world whenever she had time; its growth was rapid, the original three-square-meter space had expanded to over a hundred square meters!
With the larger area, the previously water-filled three-square-meter space was now tucked away in a corner.
In the vast new space, Yu Yan had brought in plenty of soil rich in spiritual energy from double S-class dungeons.
Later, she ventured into the S-class “Red Mangrove” dungeon and gathered several tons of seawater, raising plenty of fish, shrimp, and shellfish. Thus, the hundred-square-meter space was roughly divided into three regions: freshwater area, seawater area, and soil area.
Those slender branches from the feather-leaf tip banyan were carefully planted at the edge of the seawater area.
She also planted three clusters of grade six Purple Star Bamboo at the edge of the freshwater area. As for why she didn’t plant more—such precious dungeon rewards, she couldn’t bear to waste time farming in her small world, not even for sleep!
Thinking about the recent growth of her small world, Yu Yan felt delighted!
Even if you take a step back, there were still so many feathers and plumes on the eagle corpses to pluck; gu eagle feathers were grade four or higher spiritual materials.
Yu Yan’s fingers itched.
Anyway, she had already cleaned out this gu eagle nest; unless she exited the dungeon, the monsters wouldn’t respawn. Yu Yan had no worries about the increase in dungeon difficulty after the adaptation period ended, when dungeon power would rise by thirty percent.
Acting on impulse, Yu Yan pulled out two entrenching tools—
Don’t ask why she had such things at home.
Before the dungeon world descended, she had been a single mother for ten years, never entangled with anyone. Who would have thought she’d finally fall for Lin Zhe, five years her junior? That boy was truly irresistible! Innocent yet seductive, devoted and courageous.
For her, even threats from his mother couldn’t sway him.
Lin Zhe stood his ground, vowing to grow old together. Even in death, he wanted to be buried beside her and continue as her husband in the next life.
On their first day together, he handed over his salary card!
Who could possibly resist that?
Yu Yan adored her young boyfriend’s decisive style—she simply couldn’t withstand it.
It wasn’t her fault; the enemy’s firepower was overwhelming... And her boyfriend was a hardcore extreme survival enthusiast, so gradually all sorts of odd things appeared in her home.
Things like a lifesaving kit the size of a cigarette box, a super-concentrated first aid kit.
Folding knives, multi-purpose scissors, parang machetes... Tools like entrenching shovels and the wire saw she originally packed in her bag were actually quite normal.
Thinking of her young boyfriend, Yu Yan sighed softly.
He worked in S City, usually living apart from her, only seeing her on weekends. When the dungeon world arrived, it was Friday night; Lin Zhe was delayed by something and couldn’t come, and so they were separated by fate.
S City was over a thousand kilometers from Y City.
Who knew when she would next see her innocent, alluring boyfriend?
Sigh as she might, Yu Yan’s hand didn’t slow as she handed Yun Duoduo an entrenching tool. Passing one to her daughter, she quickly began digging—finish the job and she could finally find a place to sleep!
These three days had exhausted her beyond measure.
Yu Yan felt she had never been this tired in either of her lives; her stamina and energy had been pushed to the limit again and again.
If not for her extraordinary willpower, she would have given up long ago.
S City, Jingjiang District, Red Maple Gardens.
When Yu Yan was thinking about her boyfriend, her boyfriend was thinking about her.
Lin Zhe slumped haphazardly on the steps at the edge of the neighborhood, his image nowhere to be found. He had just emerged from an E-class dungeon.
The dungeon world had been here for three days, and in those three days, the dungeon’s power had increased from one percent to ten percent. Lin Zhe didn’t have the advantage of reincarnation like Yu Yan; he wasn’t fully aware of these changes.
But three days ago, when he first entered the E-class dungeon, the monsters inside were nowhere near this strong.
For reasons unknown, their strength was rising at an incredible rate. Three days ago, the snow rabbits—creatures with fur as white as snow—could only fire limp water jets that couldn’t even touch the edge of his jacket.
Except for the blue eyes and tail, Lin Zhe considered them rabbits in every sense.
But these rabbits could spit water jets!
Now, not only that, they had stopped using water jets and started launching icy spikes.
These icy spikes were unlike any ordinary ones; they could easily pierce his tough jacket.
As an extreme survival enthusiast, Lin Zhe’s jacket was top quality. He had tried cutting it with a knife and smashing it with a stone—only with great force could he barely scratch the surface.
But now, in the face of the snow rabbits’ icy spikes, his jacket was as fragile as tofu.
Looking at the obvious holes in his jacket, Lin Zhe was deeply worried.
He was a grown man, attentive to fitness, in excellent health, and skilled with extreme survival tools. Yet even in this cursed dungeon world, he struggled to survive.
Yan Yan was just a delicate woman, accompanied by her twelve-year-old daughter—how could she possibly manage?
She must be terribly frightened and helpless right now...
